3.93 / 5.00 4,634 ViewsHey to all you out there. I am in need of people that can help me with this project that I am in the process of working on. Doesn't matter what you do, whether it be animating, making art, writing, voice-acting, and/or composing music. Any help would be appreciated. Though, right now, I'm sort of looking for animators and artists at this point in time. But feel free to contact me no matter what you want to help with. Right, so I should probably explain what I'm working on and what I'm looking for.
The project I'm working on is basically a series about a group of friends that live on an island specifically designed for those that work and make material for the internet. So musicians, animators, YouTubers, artists and so on. Anyway, the main character of the series has just moved to the island. However, he doesn't know what he wants to do for a job or what he is good at. As time goes on, he makes friends and slowly tries different things to find what he is good at. He tries things like parkour, composing music, drawing art commissions. As he does these things, he gets better at them, but never sticks with anything because he believes he is not good enough for any of the career choices. Each episode is basically a video blog that he posts about the things that he did and tried that day. So basically, the main character's vlogs are what he is actually good at doing.
But as the main character and his friends have their little adventures and such, the is an evil on the island that hates everything about the island. The governor/creator of the island despises all the residents on the island because he believes that the jobs the residents have aren't "real jobs". The governor created the island to gather all these people with internet jobs and get rid of them all. By doing so, he believes he can show the world how bad having an internet job can be and that the internet needs to be monitored and controlled to get rid of all the violence, profanity, smut, and other bad influences of the web. He will then seize control and make the internet a "better" place.
The governor, however, can't openly attack the inhabitants since they are still citizens of the countries they original came from. So he creates this super computer that uses data and materializes it into the real world. He gives each inhabitant a device that connects to this computer to help them with their work. However, the super computer also brings these creatures, known as "Viruses" into existence as well. They can range from plants and animals to fictional characters and anything that exists on the web. These Viruses are hostile and attack the island and its people. So as not to be suspected, the governor also provides the inhabitants with a battle mode on the device the received. The objects that they can use for work or for battle depend on what the user does for a job. There are even special powers users can use. Like artists can bring their art to life, parkour and martial arts practitioners can use abilities to give them super human endurance, agility, and power. Video game makers and players can use weapons, armor and abilities from games they've made or played. A user can even ask for a unique power or armor and weapons.
However, the user must have points to get anything. The more well known the user is or the more work they've done gets them points to use. The more recognized and popular people are the only ones that can ask and afford unique things. They can even get points from dueling one another or defeating more viruses. This way, it motivates the inhabitants to work harder and to fight more. However, the more they fight and work, the more the Viruses appear and the more powerful the Viruses become. Eventually, the governor will build an army of Viruses to attack the inhabitants, hoping that the Viruses will overwhelm the users and destroy them all. He'll then step in and either stop the Viruses or say he found a way to control them. By accomplishing this, he hopes to gain the trust of the world to leave control of the internet to him and to discourage people from wanting to "work" on the internet ever again.
Anyway, its your basic main character grows as a person while fighting an evil force with friends and fellow islanders. One other thing I should mention is that the inhabitants are mostly regular people, but there will also famous people from the internet that make appearances. Mostly in the background, but hopefully there will be a few people that would be happy to do an episode in the series. One of the things I have planned is having PSY from Gangam Sytyle in the background, dancing Gangam Style down the sidewalk. There are other ideas I have planned, but I think you get the point.
So, now that I've told you about the project a little, let us go over what I'm looking for. Like I stated earlier, I am looking more for animators and/or artists at this stage in the project. I'm starting out by developing a sort of ad/pilot episode that basically runs through the characters and what exactly they do. It also gives the viewer a better understanding of what the series is about and what they can expect to see. Like the island is home to various people that work various jobs over the internet, or that they can materialize things from data for work or to fight the Viruses that attack the city. Even that there is a sinister plot to destroy everything on the island that is backed by a big, evil executive type antagonist. Whoops. Got off track. Anyway, I'm looking for skilled animators and artists. Having more experienced is preferred, but not exactly necessary. The reason I want more experienced people is because I want the series to do well. Moving on, the art style I am looking for is cartoony but is still somewhat realistic. At least for the human characters and background. Everything else is pretty much whatever works best. I'm still working on the art style for the characters and such, so I'm pretty much open and even lenient to any style with my request in mind. The animation is frame to frame, but I can pretty much do the in-betweens myself. So basically concept art, animating, colorers and touch-up artists are what I'd like.
I've written more, but I've ran out of space to put all of it in. So I'm just going to end the message off here and reply with another message on this topic about the details about what I am looking for in a music composer, voice actors/actresses, and writers for the script. Sorry this is so long. I wanted to give enough info to help you understand and to catch your interest, but not type to much and give away everything and waste space. Oh well. Be sure to read my next message too. I might have more to say about the project then just the help that I'm looking for.
For a composer, I'm not really that picky. I just want the composer to watch the animation first and then compose the music to what he sees. Of course, I will want certain types of music and certain musical cues that I will point out. Now, I am not really looking for VA's at the moment, since the ad/pilot has not speaking parts, but I will tell you a little about the main characters to give an idea of what I'm looking for when I do begin searching. The main character, Blake Anderson (a.k.a. ArtInMotion) is kinda of your average joe. He can handle most things but can sometimes be put off by something to strange or something he doesn't understand. He can be energetic and is willing to trying anything since he wants to figure out what his perfect internet job is. Otherwise, when he is relaxing, is by himself, or not really doing anything important, he is calm, considerate, and a stand-up guy.
Next we have the girl/love interest, Melody March (a.k.a. JamJamRadioBlam), who is the musician of the group. She is actually quite popular and well-known. She is actually quite beautiful and is asked out fequently, though she usually refuses. Jam is almost equally girly and boyish, leaning more towards girly. She acts like one of the guys when around her friends but still acts feminine from time to time, mostly when working her job at a coffee store. She can be serious and strong-willed when she needs to, but she still has a fun side to her when things aren't that important. Although Art can't see it, Jam actually likes Art. She rarely drops Art any hints that she actually likes him since Art does like her. Art is just bad at expressing his feelings and usually misses out on Jam's cues. Other then that, Jam is usually the voice of reason, or at least, conveys it for Brush, another character that is the voice of reason, because there are times no one but her can understand what he means. If you try out for this part, be aware that I am looking for someone that can also sing. You don't have to, its just that Jam is a musician, so singing should be one of the things she can do.
And on that note, we move onto the next character, Hunter Wright (a.k.a. BrushKnight), the artist in the group that draws what he likes and the occasional art commission. Brush is a kind and understanding individual who is usually the voice of reason for Art and the others. He gives them advice and warnings throughout the series. Unfortunately, due to his heavy british accent and love of idioms and sayings (especially british ones), he sometimes leaves the others confused, while at other times he is completely ignored. Unless Jam is around, most of what Brush says is put aside as unhelpful. However, that doesn't mean he is left out of the fun. When just having regular conversations, he communicates pretty well with the others, as long as he stays away from the idioms and sayings. Brush is very artistic and loves to draw, whether it be digital or more physical type of media. He usually pays for his supplies by the money he makes from commisions or working at the art supplies shop, though he usually orders more expensive things with the points he earns. Brush is basically closest to Jam, almost like they are siblings. Besides Jam, Art considers Brush to be his closest friend since his other two friends are best friends. Brush also thinks of Art as his closest friend after Jam. Usually protective of Jam, Brush can see Art's sincere feelings for Jam, so he usually tells Art things about Jam to help win her heart. Although calm and collected due to his artistic nature, Brush can be a fun guy when hanging out, and a strong and bold fighter when it comes to duels and fighting Viruses.
Next on our list of characters is actually two guys who are the best of friends. Dennis Franklin (a.k.a. Burntcraker87) and Gary Houtson (a.k.a. MidwestGamer) are two dudes that split the rent of the house they live in. The two have known each other since their days back in middle-school when they first started hanging out. Burnt, a half-white, half-balck individual, is proud of his mixed heritage. Tall with dark skin and sporting dreads, Burnt is pretty laid-back. But only when he isn't practicing or filming parkor, or when he hangs out with friends, doing various activities, which is usually most of the time. Midwest, a short and kinda round white guy, is, you guessed it, gamer that post his game play and commentary on the internet for others to watch. When he isn't raging or getting depressed from playing his video games during his recordings, Midwest spends a lot of his time with his friends, happy and cracking jokes with the others. Although best of friends, Burnt and Midwest don't always see eye to eye, which usually results with them arguing and yelling at each other. But they usually say these things in jest since they are never really mad at each other. The duo lives next door to Art, which is how they all became friends. From there, the two introduce Art to Brush, who then later introduces Art to Jam. Although they do different things, Burnt will sometimes play video games and even record with Midwest, while Midwest usually follows Burnt around so that he can film Burnt doing his parkour. For Burnt, I'm looking for either a deep male voice or one the is slightly higher then a regular voice that sounds slightly comedic. For Midwest, I not looking for nerdy. He acts nerdy, but his voice is normal. He was raised to speak properly and clearly.
Other then those five, I'm not searching for anything besides the deep, masculine voice that the governor should have as a villain. That, and maybe his assistant, who has the usual cold feminine voice that sounds like she really doesn't care. So that leaves the writers. Although I want this series to stay the way I want, I know getting other people's opinions and ideas can greatly improve an already good script. If you want to help with the story and script, let me know what kinda stuff you usually write as well as a sample of some of your work. Please don't write something for the series. You won't be guaranteed a spot and I don't want to animate something and be told I used your idea that you submitted but wasn't accepted for. Final, I do value you others ideas and opinions, but when we get down to it, the final decision is my choice, meaning I could choose not to use your idea or listen to your opinion. Hopefully, this won't be the case most of the time, but I want to make sure the series is heading in the direction that I planned for it from the beginning. Sorry if I sound like a dick. I'm sure I'll like a lot of your ideas and what you think of the story so far, since I doubt my skills and really value other people's input.
And that is about it. Boy, that is a lot to read, I'm sure. So I want to thank you for reading all of it. Sorry it is so long and took up your time. One last thing. Right now, all I can do for those who want to help is give them credit for helping. If, some how, starts making money, then I will gladly pay anyone for their services. Oh, and if you reply, please follow this format as to what you can help with.

Well first off, I'd like you to submit all the info I asked for in the second message I posted. Secondly, I'd like to know what part you are going to try out for. And finally, I'd like to see some of your work or a demo reel. Link it inside your message if you could. Thanks. Can't wait to hear back from you.
