Hey everyone!!

Sorry for the late reply...My laptop took a crud so i'm stuck with dial up on a Windows 98 op. system. So far though looks good. I'd like to welcome the new members that have joined and I am enjoying all your work you've posted up.
An update to my photos....I will be hopefully posting by next week when I get my hands on a card reader. I got some good shots of my cats and such from the holidays that i'm sure you'll all enjoy...

Keep up all the good work!!

I was just thinking yesterday that I wanted to start a photographer's thread here and lo and behold there is already one =)

I guess I didn't know because I don't cruise C&C much anymore, but the general is just not very interesting anymore. I read so many threads and posts there and good discussions / threads are very few and far between. Needless to say, I don't post much in the general because of this.

Anyhow, I'd like to start sharing some of my work here and join this fine club. This is what I am currently using:

Canon IXUS 400 4.0 Mpixels

I bought that camera in London while I was on vacation there a few years ago (on my way to Munich for Oktoberfest) and my old Canon 3.2 Mpixel broke. The shutter got stuck shut and it would have cost more to fix the problem than to buy a new camera. I'm glad I made the upgrade because this model has everything I need for almost any situation.

So, I'll start with a picture of the Ocean Beach pier at sunset. It was a very hazey day, so it made everything look almost pastel. Ocean Beach is a small "surf town" suburb of San Diego, California. I used to live there and would watch the sunsets all the time. The pier in the picture is the longest pier on the west coast of the United States.

I now live in Honolulu, Hawaii (again), so you can expect much more coming from me.

Enjoy =)

The shutter got stuck? What did you end up doing with it? My Canon A510 was acting crappy, including the shutter sticking, but all it needed was a cleaning. Of course, it was damn expensive to clean, and it took forever (I was in Europe at the time, I had my 35mm SLR but it would have been nice to have the digi). Buuut. What did you end up doing with the Canon? I'm sure someone could fix it and put it to good use, shutter sticking doesn't seem like a huge problem.

Anyways. If I was in the market for another camera, I would definitely get the Nikon D50. A digital SLR for $500! That's awesome! Amazing how the prices are falling. Maybe in a few years Canon will have a digital SLR on the market for around $500. I've gotten use to their products and have been entirely content. My father is the one who buys Nikon. =P

I actually sent it back to a friend of mine in Honolulu and when I came back I kept it in it's original box for years. It wasn't until recently when I moved that I left it behind because I thought it was garbage. Anyhow, while I was visiting some friends in San Francisco, a friend of mine told me that there was a major defect in those canons that made the shutters stick shut and that they would repair them for free regardless of how long you owned the camera. Well, it's a little late now =(

New picture!

This is sunset beach on the north shore of Oahu. I don't really think that it turned out the way that I wanted it to because at the time the clouds made the sunlight come through in these beams. It was a real sight to see, but the beams of light didn't really come out. Nonetheless, I like it =)
