I need help. I am still an amatuer/beginner who is sick of their regular old digital camera... i want more control, more option and a more professional camera. I am willing to spend up to $1000, and I want it to be digital.
Any suggestions as to what camera I should invest in and why?
I appreciate any help I get. Thanks.

Did you use a filter? If so, what number?
I like it, I wish it had a tad more contrast, just to make the blacks a little blacker and the whites just a tad brighter, but it's a great picture.

I'd recommend a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. They can range from around $899 to about $1400. But they're quality cameras. It's a pretty professional camera, but it has it's benefits because you'll be able to switch out the lense for micro/macro/zoom lenses, and they have great saturation of color. Also, Canon has a very user friendly set up. Also, Canon uses glass lenses instead of plastic, so there's no warping or scratches. Also, if you're looking for something a little different, I'd also recommend the Sony DSC-F707.
Mostly, I'm a Canon girl though. Their stuff is always quality. IMO it's the best. Also, it's very compatible when you want to switch from "beginner" to "intermediate" and "expert". It's very versatile and it basically adapts itself to all levels of photography.

Thanks to both young ladies who replied to my email. And oddly enough I was in fact looking at the Canon EOS as my first choice so I guess I was o nthe right track.
Thanks again for really putting some confidence into my initial choice. It really helped.

Actually, us mods are constrained by the limit as well. Only admins and Stamper can post big pictars.
So I'm going to use my favorite whore, imageshack. :D

Yeah, me again
I just got the camera for Christmas. Before I got it, I was not allowed to handle cameras, because I couldn't take pictures for shit. I still can't, but I'm learning on my own. I'll take gentle constructive criticism. :D
ENJOY!

The contrast was low because of the bleach i used, i didnt use a filter it's a ordinary SRL camera i used but i may have pushed the film slightly to get the grainy look, but all my work has the aged feel to it which means i try not to have so much contrast but i might see if i can find an old pic in which i do have high contrast in.
thanx for the possitive feed back.

Maus those photos where not that bad. Pretty good I do say =^-^=. I mean I know how yah feel about how you take photographs. When I first started my work was horrible, almost thought I couldn't take a good photograph. But I worked at it and over time I developed my craft. It took some time but everyone has their own style, just gotta find it. But from what I see your on your way. I liked the photo of you smoking with the grass in the background. That is a very nice self portrait piece.
Also I was wondering if you guys wanted to show off your cameras. Yah know so we can see who is using what type of camera. I was running across the idea today. I have 3 cameras I am using currently. But i'll post them up later. =^-^=
I also have some more photos to put up but alas I need to upload them and resize them and blah blah blah, but let me reasure you they will be up in do time.

Thank you very much. ^_^ I still can't use a point and shoot camera, I shake too much. :\ At least with a digi cam, I'm not wasting loads of film.

Hee, since I only have the one camera, it's hard to take a picture of it, but it is an Olympus Camedia D-540 Zoom, 3.2 Megapixel. I use a piece of grip tape as a flash diffuser. Grip tape works MUCH better than duct tape, but the only downfall is that it costs like $60 a roll.
I also have some more photos to put up but alas I need to upload them and resize them and blah blah blah, but let me reasure you they will be up in do time.
Try uploading them to imageshack, that way you don't lose any of the qualty and/or detail.
Here's one I took in Philadelphia. It's an old abandoned church. I snapped it while we were on the way to the Mütter Museum.

Yah I got an ImageShack account and I think i'm going to do that from now on. Thank you Maus!! I also recently updated my website with some new photographs in the RaNdOm and SUNY Cobleskill photo galleries. You can just click my banner below if yah wanna see them.
Also Maus I really enjoyed your church tower photo really pretty. I also can relate to the shaking with the camera. If they are heavy I shake quite a bit myself. For example I was trying to get photos of the fireflies a couple weeks ago and all I got where burriered photos of fun with skeatter bites to boot. I tried to see if I could get some photos to work with the blur but alas...they just didn't. But easy ansewr to slove the problem. Tripod! Tripods are gods gift to photographers. I use one when I can and sloves the shaking problem and I can take an awesome photo! Muh hahah...=^-^=
Anywho i'll be uploading some new photos sometime I have just been very busy. BUt when I get the time sure thing...they will be up. =^-^=
