They have narrow diets that consist mostly of food that flies in the face of traditional "healthy eating." Some of these people have made it past 110. I've started to wonder if perhaps people experience a physiological shift when they reach a certain point of old age where "bad" foods become beneficial.
Thoughts?

I guess cigs are healthy as well because there's some chain smokers that reach old ages.
But really, bacon and alcohol aren't that unhealthy. So long as you're getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need, are active enough, and don't have any diseases that limit your diet, you can eat that all of that shit.
Some of the stuff I've/heard has to do in part with genetics- how the body rebuilds, etc. On the dietary issue, some material says that the amount you eat will factor on how your body manages its cellular respiration and reproduction, as well as how much of that energy you use and in what form.

If you feed a cat or a dog, the same kibble year in and year out, they'll live to a ripe old age. Change the kibble too often, they die, likely from having to deal with too many different toxins. Same goes for cigarettes: change your brand more than twice, your risk of cancer increases even more.
