Xtreme's "Crystal Frost" level had Sonic running on what looked like a 3D version of the Saturn logo. If you don't know what that looked like, it was a sphere with an S-shaped line curving around it. There's your connection.
Xtreme was a standard PS1-era platformer. It wasn't anything interesting, and apart from the horrible camera offered nothing at all in terms of uniqueness. All I'm seeing is people grasping for straws
It offered a style of gameplay that was innovative for its time, even if it hasn't aged well. The same could be said for its contender, Super Mario 64, which received positive reviews when it came out and (mostly) does to this day.

I say they revive the game. If they tweak a few things, it could be a great next gen sanic game.

OK Here's what the develepours thought when this game went into the works

Sonic '06 is the closest to a Sonic Adventure 3 you'll ever get, but I wouldn't force my worst enemy to play that. You should just play Sonic Unleashed and call it Sonic World Adventure like everybody else.

Yes, let's bring back everything wrong with 3D Sonic games pre-2010

Well, there is a fan project on Chris Senn's forum, Senntient.com , called Project S. It is dedicated to doing just that.

No, it's a preorder bonus. You can still order it if they have more in stock, but at Christmas? Not a chance.
You could always just preorder the game for when you eventually get a Wii U. Unless you're talking about just the games, in which case get Lost World first. The other games will still be there, but the limited edition is limited, so yeh. It depends on what games you prioritize.

I already got a Wii U, but with Mario 3-D World, Pokemon Y, GTA 5, XCOM Declassified, AC4, Watch Dogs and the PS4 coming out I have no choice but to hope I get it at Christmas. Oh well, it's only like 3 missions right, I'm not missing out on much?

Now, if only Naughty Dog could get Crash Bandicoot back...and if Tomba! 3 was a thing...and Klonoa 3...and Mischief Makers 2...and Strider 3...and Vectorman 3...
There was a Mischief Makers 2?! Shut up and take my money!
i'm hearing mixed things about this game from PAX, mainly that it has good controls yet it feels awkward. If i'm honest the game looks awkward to play and I'll probably be playing it slow, which sucks, but I dunno, it looks awkward but who's to say it is?

Hmmm well It looks more open, like the adventure days but still fast paced enough. I am pretty sure the control of Sonic will not be that bad :)
Leaked boss trailer www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyeX6XG0k8w
Warning; spoils included.
Unfortunately, the NiGHTS bosses are just reskins of these ones, it would appear. Zavok and his robotic dragon, Zazz's disco ball thing could easily be replaced by Puffy, and Wizeman seems to be the fucking pixelated head from the honeycomb level (Seriously, what in the fuck?)

Now nobody can tell me it doesn't look 1:1 like Mario Galaxy at certain parts.

People still think it's a rip off of Mario Galaxy?! *sigh* just go read the first two pages.

Didn't say that. I said it looks 1:1 like Galaxy, that's just pointing at the visual aspect.

comparing the art style to Mario makes no sense. How does it have any resemblance to a Mario game at all? Because it's "kiddy?" By that logic Wind Waker looks exactly like Mario Galaxy as well. Mario Galaxy was absolutely filled with detail and pushed the Wii to its limits. Lost World, on the other hand, aims for a far more minimalistic and stylised approach to its art and is delightfully cartoony. It's like people automatically associate "kiddy" with Mario regardless of the validity of the comparison.
Galaxy has far more detail, I give you that. Lost World screenshot 3 and 4 are in fact so minimalistic they look like an alpha version of the game. But don't tell me that nothing in these screenshots is interchangable.

It does? I noticed no difference except for a few textures.

True, they do look minimalistic. Then again, the Wii U version of the game was specifically tailored to look more surreal and cartoony in terms of visual aesthetics and level design.
Also, you can compare Lost World and Galaxy all you want, but SA2 did it first. And that's not counting the unreleased Sonic Xtreme.
IT LOOKS NOTHING AT ALL LIKE XTREME PLDOIRFNMTYHDGTDJHDEOTPOFBSDFTSASDF

Which is completely irrelevant.

Why? Couldn't Mario Galaxy, at least conceptually, be considered a rip-off of SA2's Mad Space level? And if you weren't implying that Lost World copied Galaxy in the first place, you may disregard this message.
The difference is that one is an incredibly high-profile game while the other is a single stage in a single game very few people outside of the Sonic fanbase will actually recognise.
