I'm really happy that EA is TRYING to right their wrongs and I hope they try to do more positive things for the company and their games.
They need it.

I never got what the big deal was about online passes. Oh no, a company whose product I am using without actually paying the company in question won't let me use things they pay to maintain

I guess being named the worst company twice in a row start to take some effect on them.

It never bothered me all that much since I always buy my games new, but I suppose it is a good idea to do away with it.

They are making smart moves right now.
First of all, stop putting ellipses at the end of almost all your sentences.
Second of all, stop being so negative and pessimistic towards the Wii U.

I understand the reason behind them and I think it's justifiable to have them, but I can't deny that I hate them with a passion. Being unable to afford new games 80% of the time makes online passes somewhat infuriating.
But it's great to see EA doing something right for once. Hopefully this is just the beginning.

Now they need to get rid of microtransactions.

That is fucking amazing. I don't have any games with online passes, but I hate the idea of them.

This, they're on a fucking roll right now.
Don't forget that they just opened a DICE studio dedicated to Star Wars games.

When does this go into effect? I'd like to know when I can finally get a copy of Battlefield 3.

All titles that currently support online passes will keep online passes. Its the future titles that will not have online passes.

You do realize that most of these people who vote on this kind of thing are generally indie game hipsters and self-entitled clowns who either have a fictional axe to grind against EA, especially when there are a lot worse video game companies that never get called out upon.
As for online passes, I agree that it wasn't a good thing to impliment per se, but it was never a huge gamebreaker either.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Stfu, who care who's voting? It still hurt the ego of everyone leading Electronic arts.

You would be surprised on who generally votes on these things. As I said before, there are worse game companies, but EA simply gets the brunt of it because of who they are.
It still hurt the ego of everyone leading Electronic arts.
1. Do you really think that they care in the first place?
2. Does it really matter anyway? No matter what EA does, positive or negative, there are still those who will continue to pass the blame towards them more than necessary.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Oh god you're stupid.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say people from the internet voted. Aka: trolls, kids, and gamers.
The timing is also very effective since this happened just after the CEO resignation and loose in sales. They say they don't care but they do: http://www.ea.com/news/we-can-do-better
Oh and I absolutely love this rewriting: http://www.dorkly.com/article/51363/eas-reponse-to-being-nam ed-the-worst-company-in-america
It's more about the bad press and realizing how much of a bad name they have on the internet (those kids and gamers are the one they want to sell game to after all).
Just imagine this scene at EA:
-Hi boss
-What's the news?
-We won't worst company award again...
-What?
-Yeah people on the internet don't care about breaking laws and destroying the planet as much as they hate online pass, micro transactions and that kind of stuff.
-Uh... I can't think of a solution, can you put a team on it?
-Right away sir!

Only if they should done this earlier to BF 3... Oh well, I restore a bit of my faith in EA.
