Which I have tried on numerous blogs. Guess what? Still no followers.

Even so, is it too much to ask for at least a few hundred followers over a year? That would be nice. I mean, I'm not asking for much, just some recognition for my hard work.Yes it is too much to ask for it - you should go out and earn it.
I'm getting the strangest feeling that by saying "go out and earn it" he didn't mean "find a different site to post your work to".
Try exposing yourself to the real world. Find yourself a lot of different creative outlets. Don't expect people to flood to your work without you doing a little promoting. If you're unknown, you won't magically become known by doing nothing.
But, most importantly, don't let the number of followers influence your output. Artists and creators of different mediums don't do what they do for exposure and notoriety. They do what they do because they enjoy doing it.
Anyone doing it for the fame isn't in it for the right reasons, and probably won't go as far as they could have had they been invested in their work.
Do your work for you. Not for everyone else.
