Yay. I am glad we have a pixel totem yet. Looks like the dimensions are not correct. It's 500px high that's correct, but on the top and bottom it's not 200px wide. Could you please tweak that? Where it's meeting the top and bottom it needs to be 200px wide (unless you collab with someone like Lego and Nae do). Apart from that it's great.

Pop!
Mine is in the white zone, the others are untouched, zane, stop flipping your image! also you have a line at the top of your image that slightly different... so if your going to change stuff again, just let me know :D

Looks great. Congrats on the frontpage and thanks for promoting our collab in the author's comments!

Thanks! Can you please check the width on the top and bottom edge? I checked and they don't seem to be 200 px wide.

No need to feel bad anymore. It would be great if you joined nevertheless!
I did not add this in the explanation before and everyone did it automatically so far, but I should mention it anyways: The top and bottom edge should be 200px wide and both should of course also align with each other.

is this better? i cant seem to get it exactly but its pretty damn close
This is a really cool idea, I'm going to be all over this tomorrow morning!
I'm a little worried about all the different styles clashing together, but I guess seeing a collection of other artistic talents and ideas can also look incredible.
I really hope this works out well.
I've sent my fixed version to you via PM.
Also, did I mention that you people have amazing art skills? Because you do.

Not bad for the words, bad for saying I wouldn't join.
My concept involves a monkey.... that's all I'll say

That's all you need to say! Monkey's rock!! Can't wait to see it!!
thanks for having a change of heart... and stop ruining my posting streak! lol <3
I think the totem would look good if each one "blended" into the next, in a way its good that there is little limitation *size been the only one really* i think draw back on this is that each piece will clearly have a cut of point where the next one joins.
if you want I wouldn't mind offering my time to "join" them up cleanly for a overall better finish, but this is just my thought.
otherwise I could always make new pieces to fit with two others >:3

Thanks for your kind offer Legolass, I also figured that there would be this issue and tried to fix it by adding automatically generated gradients to the seams to blend them into eachother, this didnt always give nice results so your help will be greatly appreciated (I would say go ahead and contact artists whose pieces you would like to link up, if you´re done just provide me the finished images)!
Everyone else can just like Legolass contact eachother and make up your collaborations yourself.
I've been brainstorming, and I think I've finally come up with an idea. I just need to work one last thing out before I draw it, as there are three faces, but I can't decide what kind of faces would fit the piece (human, monster, animal, etc...)
Just posting here to let you know I'm still kicking with this.
Also (and sorry if I just overlooked it) what's the deal with the light source? Are we supposed to be given a direction for it? If not, wouldn't everyone doing different shading sort of look screwy in the end?

Most contributions have the light coming from the front, slightly from above. I guess that's what most artists expect when thinking about a totem. Ultimately the drawing and also shading style for every artist will be different (even no shading at all if it works for the individual image), so differences in the direction are not a huge problem either, as long as you don't go with stuff like backlighting or dramatic lighting from below. :P
Ive decided to edit mine a lil and mke it better... So im open if anyone wants to merge theirs with mine.
Okay well I've finished the Totem itself. The actual totem stuff is exactly 650 wide, just like the first post said. Glad that worked out so well. Now I need help making the part that connects to the others. I'm just wanting to make a simple wooden cylinder-like pole, and I can't figure out how to make sure that part itself is exactly 200px wide. I'm using Paint Tool Sai if it helps. Thanks!
make a file that is 200x500pixels and paintbucket it, then just copy paste.

I feel bad for not thinking of this. Thank you very much.

Also, is it just me or are the pictures brighter on the forum ?
Oh! Phew, I thought my picture made you laugh so hard you cried :P
And I think they only appear brighter because you see them now with a dark grey background, as opposed to, typically, white when you're making them.

Does "something like this" mean "this exactly"? Is this the finished image? Sorry it doesn't look like it's carved in. We can't accept this. There is still plenty of time to work on a drawing. In your case I'd recommend making the pole look rounder (through the magic of cylindrical shading) & look up some actual wood carvings to get a reference. I don't mind the tribute to the game at all by the way.
