You could also program a ton of games with simple Actionscript, and yet sponsors and people pay thousands of dollars for the source to reskin and republish.

It's not about being able to do it, it's about having the time to or spending the effort.

But 1200$ dollars! Is this a joke? I mean, it could actually take you more time to familiarize yourself with the purchased engine and to learn how to use it, than make one yourself. Also, all these features are not something extraordinary, not something which requires advanced technology, methodology, theory or planning.

For some people it might be more worthwhile to buy the source code for a game they are looking to create. 1200$ isn't even that much when you're looking at a sizable project. You know that the source code you buy will work and you know you have the functionality (as we all know game development often brings unforeseen setbacks making it difficult to precisely predict when a project will be finished).
Even though this functionality may seem simple I think you'd be off way worse when going to a freelance programmer with this.

At the end of the day you should respect the offer that the OP is making and not try and take it down.

I think there is a lot of things wrong with trying to sell source code of such a game on NG, but you guys are attacking OP for all the wrong reasons. $1200 is pocket money as far as buying games go. People working professionally in the game programming industry would hit the $1200 mark within, at worst, 2 weeks of work. I don't think anyone browsing the NG flash forum would buy it. For one, buying source code of such a large flash game is not very efficient. If you want to use the game as content for your website, or as a sponsored product, you wouldn't care much about source code - and if you wanted to buy source code so you could learn from it, you wouldn't pay $1200.

I find your point to be quite interesting. But I guess that professional flash game developers, after all, may want to buy a game engine like this, only to place their own artwork and interface, and publish a clone of KOF. This, in its nature, is an unworthy act of desperately trying to quickly produce income, without bothering to think creatively and make original content. So, in conclusion, I think that selling ready game engines, and especially buying them for purposes of game replication, is a lowly act caused solely by greed for money.
