Because my family is a now converted Christian familthey had a wild idea to burn all our VALUABLE movies we could have sold money that we could have put to good use.. plus they burnt the movies I loved alot and didnt give me an option to choose to have them or not... fml.. :(

All I can say about this, if they start thinking that everything in the Bible is true, they'll get a harsh bitter truth coming to them sooner or later, more sooner then later once they realize that not everything in that book is true.

Further more burning those valuable movies is a "major" fault on there part, I don't even think they should of done that to begin with considering how bad the economy has gone.

Do they even think that "money" is the root of all evil? NO, money in all reality is just one part of neutrality as it can be used for good or for ill depending on the will of the spender.

Either way, they pretty much whacked something out of proportion not meant to be whacked out of proportion to begin with considering the situation you got yourself into, further more the wild idea they had in mind sounded like they took the idea of Religion WAY over there heads.

That is truly awful, I'm really sorry to hear that dude. When I was growing up I got a hell of a lot more valuable moral and spiritual guidance from the movies than I ever got out of Hebrew school. Burning them is essentially burning my bible. I'm fucking offended.

As far as advice goes, honestly, if we're being realistic here I'm going to have to disagree with most of the people in this thread and say that for now at least you should keep your head down and only rebel in private. You can be more openly critical once you're a financially independent adult, but for now you might not have the luxury of being totally honest with your parents without potentially dire consequences. Which is also just beyond awful.

On the bright side, it seems that you still have unfettered access to the Internet. There are plenty of sites out there where you can find digital copies of the movies you've lost and more. It's the 21st century, don't let some prehistoric bullshit like fire stop you from enjoying art.
