Any good alternatives to flash? 2013-05-01 22:25:06 Reply

Hello I want to try and get into animation after seeing so many great works around. I don't really have the cash for Adobe Flash and I do not want to pirate it... are there any other good alternatives or will I just have to pony up?

On a side note: who made the site theme (not the background, but like the buttons/general site theme)?

ToonBoom has a students edition of there animation programs although the only problem is that you cant export any of your work its just for basic learning unless your looking to spend some serious cash for the programs then i cant help you there most people do pirate. I suggest you try some of these guys out and give'em a try to see how serious you are about it

I highly recommend Toonboom! I'm using it at work and also for my own short https://www.facebook.com/killgoreanimation. It really blows Flash out of the water since its designed specifically for 2D animation as opposed to Flash which is really a multimedia web tool. But if you are looking for free or dirt cheap software your options are pretty limited... I believe Toonboom offers a low end version of their software for pretty cheap.

Anime studio is fairly cheap. I haven't used it myself, but it looks very good. Especially for puppet style animation, where the characters are rigged. I wanted to get it myself, but I'm going straight for Toon Boom Animate!!! :)

There's also Plastic Animation Paper. It's a traditional animation program that's really good in my opinion. But that's providing you have a tablet. It's FREE!!!
