Late update from me tonight, sorry!

The Blackhawks (FUCK YEAH) pick up a 3-0 win in Minnesota to put the wild on the brink of elimination, taking a 3-1 series lead. The Senators also take a 3-1 lead in their series against Montreal with a win at home tonight. The Sharks break out the brooms tonight at the Shark Tank, sweeping the Canucks out of the first round; for the Canucks, it's the second time in as many years being swept in the first round. The big surprise of the day is the Islanders picking up a 6-4 victory over Pittsburgh who falter with some clumsy goaltending, which was their undoing last year; series is tied 2-2, going back to Pittsburgh for game 5.

So I'm just going to throw this out there
The team that's eliminated the Canucks for the last 3 years has gone on to win the cup.
Blackhawks - 2010
Bruins - 2011
Kings - 2012

I feel like boosting some egos tonight when actually I'm just really really happy the Cantpucks got swept.

It was a night filled with overtime games, with 3 of 4 fixtures needing extra time to decide a winner.

The Kings put the Blues on the brink after starting out the series down 2-0 with an overtime win in St. Louis tonight. It was a duel of goaltenders in Anaheim between the Ducks and Red Wings, seeing the home team come away with an overtime win to go up 3-2 over Detroit. The Maple Leafs went up early, but the Bruins came back to force overtime, eventually winning in the extra session to go up 3-1 in that series. The only game to be decided in regulation was a back and forth affair between Washington and New York, seeing the Rangers win at home to even the series at 2.

With today's games over with, the Ducks, Blackhawks, Bruins, Senators, and Kings are all 1 game away from advancing, while the Sharks have already advanced.

Another triple post deal with it etc

The Blackhawks and Senators both clinch series wins tonight with victories over the Wild and Canadiens respectively, while the Penguins put the Islanders on the brink with a home win; goaltending wasn't a problem for Pittsburgh this time around, earning the shutout victory after benching starting goalie Fleury following game 4.

Senators are pretty bad, they got carried by their goaltender.

Well, they are much better on defense than the Penguins in general.

Over the course of the last couple days we've seen the Penguins close out their series against the Islanders in 6 games and the Kings rally from a 2-0 start to win their series over St. Louis in 6 games as well. Tonight tells us who wins between Anaheim and Detroit in a pivotal game 7, while both the Bruins can close out their series with a win. The Rangers pulled off a win at home over the Caps to force a game 7; the home team in that series has not lost thus far.

Actually going to agree with this. Maybe not in 6 specifically, but agreeing regardless.

With the conclusion of tonight's action, all western conference semifinal matchups are now set! Detroit wins game 7 of their series against Anaheim to advance, upsetting the second seeded Ducks in the first round. A pair of game 7's were forced today as well, with Toronto and the New York Rangers both winning on home ice to send their series with Boston and Washington respectively to a final game.

Western Conference Semifinal matchups

1. Chicago Blackhawks vs. 7. Detroit Red Wings
5. Los Angeles Kings vs. 6. San Jose Sharks

Seeing as how we have two game sevens in the eastern conference tomorrow, the only matchup that's been set in stone thus far is 1. Pittsburgh Penguins vs. 7. Ottawa Senators.

Couldn't have asked for a better rival in the Semis.shit is gonna get epic and i can't wait

MADHOUSE ON MADISON BABY!

5. Los Angeles Kings vs. 6. San Jose Sharks

Gonna be a good series as well but i think San Jose is on a roll and is gonna keep it going through L.A

1. Pittsburgh Penguins vs. 7. Ottawa Senators.

If Pittsburgh had troubles with the Islanders than they better wake up cause Ottawa is a lot better the one question i got is what they are gonna do with Fluery or are they gonna stick with Vokoun who really was only good against the Islanders but stunk against anybody else also he really didn't play well that Game 6 just Pittsburgh's offense picked them up for that game.

The two Game 7s are gonna be great today, the Caps/Rangers game could go either way really the series has been back and forth since Game 1 really so i'm going with the home team to pull it out tonight maybe Ovechkin finally gets a point =\

As for the Boston/Leafs it's gonna be a dogfight thought funny enough Boston's plane got stuck in Toronto last night due to some issue with the team's charter plane so they are leaving this morning though some could see this as a good thing for the Bruins The players have a better night's sleep, and they likely won't have to be at the rink in the morning and deal with any media availability.

Either way i'm going with the Bruins to win at home and pull it out.

To be fair, if you go another year back they did get to the finals. I remember because the city was burned to the ground in the aftermath.

Also, Toronto apparently leading in game seven? I don't follow hockey very closely but something seems amiss here.

Bruins lost 3 games straight and Leafs just won the series because of it. This reminds me of the epic comeback by my Flyers against Bruins, even tho Leafs were much better defensively compared to my Flyers. Yeah, I know it's only 3 games compared to Flyers 4 straight games, but still, it's pretty impressive from the Leafs stand-point.

Looks like Bruins now, because Toronto Maple Leafs looked/played scared when it became tied up. A Boston Bruins Player nearly made it 5-4. Damn, that was a real quick turn around, and now the momentum is entirely on the Bruins side.

Bruins making History themselves, and I can't believe they just made an epic comeback. It's tied up 4-4 right now, but the momentum is entirely on Bruins side right now. Toronto Maple Leafs did not look like they were playing good at all on defense, but Bruins looked great offensively the last 2 minutes of the 3rd period.

Figures as much, the Leafs are the NHL equivalent of the Knicks, so much money and talent, and yet can never win due to their bad luck, or more commonly, sheer incompetence, it's no wonder why they haven't won the Stanley Cup since the Vietnam War.

Looks like the Bruins will be meeting up with another Original 6 team in the Rangers.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

With the conclusion of tonight's action, all semifinal matchups are now set! The Rangers advance with a 5-0 win in game 7 to eliminate the Capitals while the Bruins battle to the very last minute (literally) to come back and win game 7 against Toronto. Matchups are as follows:

Western Conference Semifinals

1. Chicago Blackhawks vs. 7. Detroit Red Wings
5. Los Angeles Kings vs. 6. San Jose Sharks

Eastern Conference Semifinals

1. Pittsburgh Penguins vs. 7. Ottawa Senators
4. Boston Bruins vs. 6. New York Rangers

Make your picks gogogogogo
