Lets imagine You wake up in 1995... 2013-04-27 20:04:31 Reply

Here's a scenario , You wake up in the year 1995. What do You do?
Remember , Internet then was a luxury of the rich , and was very basic ( could only read and receive information , and shopping online was a new thing , no games or videos or fun stuff )
Playstation 1 had only just come about.
Google and most other things You use daily on the Internet did not yet exist or were very primitive.
Bill Clinton is the Peesident of the US and likewise John Major is the prime minister of the UK.
9/11 has not yet happened.
Mobile phones were clunky and they hadn't evolved past the antenna yet.
Laptops are also a luxury enjoyed by few.
Tvs are mostly grey and clunky.
School classrooms are using blackboards/whiteboards.
The mainstream music of the time is pop.
Big girl and boy bands dominated the scene.

Anyway , so just imagine waking up in 1995 , if You didn't reside in Your current house then , then imagine waking up falling on the floor due to Your bed not being there , or if You have some new modern house , a field!
What would You do?
Who would You see?
Be interested to see the responses to this.

I'd wait a few years until EarthBound was cheap as fuck and then buy a shit load of copies, go back to the future, and sell them on eBay brand new. I'd get fucking rich.

Let's see... I could play Lode Runner, Worms, Doom, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Tactics Ogre, and most pinball games. I'd probably be at the arcade stealing leaderboards.

Google and most other things You use daily on the Internet did not yet exist or were very primitive.
Bill Clinton is the Peesident of the US and likewise John Major is the prime minister of the UK.

I could spread the word that Bush was going to steal the election and rack up a 10 trillion deficit!

Mobile phones were clunky and they hadn't evolved past the antenna yet.
Laptops are also a luxury enjoyed by few.
Tvs are mostly grey and clunky.
School classrooms are using blackboards/whiteboards.

Wouldn't affect me at all.

The mainstream music of the time is pop.

Hmm, djent wouldn't be very popular yet. I would have to restrict myself to Dream Theater and Meshuggah.

Big girl and boy bands dominated the scene.

And they don't now...?

What would You do?
Who would You see?

That depends. I'm assuming I'm going to be at my current age of 18? Is there a younger copy of me running around or not? I'd probably try and change the past a little bit, maybe develop a relationship with my ex's parents so they never hated me and we would never have broken up.

Aside from that I would mainly just kill time at the arcades. DDR didn't exist yet so I'd mainly be playing pinball, with a healthy dosage of Gauntlet.

There is one old man who always wakes up thinking that it's 1995.

He always gets a shock seeing his face so aged in the mirror.

Invest everything in inchoate stocks of Google and Apple.

Take bets on Y2K not ever happening.

Maybe learn how to use rollerblades too.

I would probably skateboard and listen to good rock music from the 90's. I was 5 in 95' so I don't remember much about back then other than comic books, legos, and listening to alice in chains/nirvana.

Remember , Internet then was a luxury of the rich , and was very basic ( could only read and receive information , and shopping online was a new thing , no games or videos or fun stuff )

Teletubby IS fun stuff.

Playstation 1 had only just come about.
Google and most other things You use daily on the Internet did not yet exist or were very primitive.

I would buy stock in Google, Yahoo, Facebook or any embryonic company that's become famous in our universe, and some other one, Just in case.

Bill Clinton is the Peesident of the US and likewise John Major is the prime minister of the UK.
9/11 has not yet happened.

I would try to announce kind-of paranormal prophecy like "Beware! Asian country, There would be great economic crisis sooooooon!" (1997 Asian financial crisis) "Bush will win because of Florida" before 2000 president election took place. "Oh, Nostradamus is bullshit, There's nothing odd happen in Y2K" "America will face great tragedy. Those who would with America will suffer... explosion, and those so-called terrorist with oil would face invasion"

I like it. It's vintage.

The mainstream music of the time is pop.

Then It's time to introduce Trance!

Big girl and boy bands dominated the scene.

Anyway , so just imagine waking up in 1995 , if You didn't reside in Your current house then , then imagine waking up falling on the floor due to Your bed not being there , or if You have some new modern house , a field!

Working toward Trance Music that can more or less cure Depression.

Let me see if I properly understand this scenario: I go back in time to 1995, but my location in space, relative to the Earth, does not change. My physical body is the same as it is now, and all my post-1995 memories are intact. Is this correct?

Go back to being 7 years old with the knowledge I know now, or me being a 24 year old back in 95?

If I was 7, I would do as I always did--go and play with my Barbies or my brothers' toys, go out and play, read books, play the vidya games, and do as I did back when I was little, maybe minus the compulsive eating.

If I was 24, I would get a job, invest in Starbucks stock, and try to get a damn good job with it. And then go visit places that I always wanted to go to prior to 9/11 just for the experience, such as NYC or places abroad that looked like they were super wacky back in the 90's.

And then stalk my husband because I would be about 10 years older than he was, and then convince him to go move to Vancouver and meet me later in the future.

Or that might fuck shit up. I don't know. Maybe I would still be playing with Barbies, except in an apartment somewhere, and still do what I did back then.

That was 1 year before I was born so I couldn't do much.

If I could though then I'd get myself an internet and look at what newgrounds was like at that time. I would have to find it first though.

???-2004?=dark ages, 2005?=atomic betty era, 2006=red dwarf era, 2007-2009=newgrounds era, 2009-on= anime era.
