Nah, it's just electropop crap.

assuming you were born in '90 you only experienced the 90s in your early childhood years. you wouldn't be mature enough to appreciate any of those things.

I only experienced the first 4 and a half years of my life in the 90s, most of which I obviously can't remember. In general, the 90s sounded a bit better but the fact that your basing this on pure musical talent during the decades, I feel you are wrong. The 00's had some pretty good artists too.

Over rated. All image.
Oasis
Same.
Blink 182
Pop music
Rocko's Modern Life
It's a cartoon you manchild.
You don't know enough about 90's music or 00's music to comment.
A lot of good music was made in the 2000's. It's just that you have bad taste.
For example, Kamelot released Karma, Epica, The Black Halo, and others in the 2000's.
Blind Guardian released A Night at the Opera, A Twist in the Myth, and At The Edge of Time in the 2000's.
You just focus too much on the negative.

oh boy this guy. "ENJOI UR JUSTIN BIEBZ. IM OVER WITH MY NIRVAANA. HAHAHA NEW MUSIC SUX 3DAY"
Dude, i was born in '94. I dont remember shit from the 90s and I know fuck well you dont either. Now, you may listen to alot of mainstream "these are generally regarded as good" bands from the 90s, but you dont know what you're talking about.
If you honestly will sit there and talk about how music today is just electropop crap and music from the 90s was some rock god cum dripped from the heavens, than you absolutely know nothing of music and your opinion on anything regarding it should never be paid attention to.

You don't know where an apostrophe goes either. It's been the same every decade, even now, in the '10s.
Also don't deny it, the '90s was the last great bastion before the washout and dilution of everything good that the mainstream managed to hold on to. We love the internet, but we must understand that it clearly made everything tepid because of how well things travel.
Late 90's: shit alternative rock, mediocre shows with predictable plots, bill clinton fucking everything in sight
Early 00's: innovative new trip-hop and hip-hop, TV shows that break the boundaries, GW fucking everything in sight
They're both alright.

Everything got mainstream? Please. What a load of bullshit.

I'd also like to point out that Nirvana and Oasis are about as mainstream as you can get. People are drawn to the image and not the music because the music ain't going away. If you liked Nirvana and Oasis back in the 90's you'd be pleb as fuck. You'd be what Mumford and Sons fans are today.

No that's not what I said. What I said, and perhaps failed to be totally clear about, is the fact that what it means to be mainstream has changed. The internet brought a wider audience, and subsequently everything trying to be mainstream has to be more diluted to reach the much wider available audience. Do you see what I mean? Things that were mainstream in the past, relative to now, would appear quite niche.
It's all about the global-scale now, don't you see.
Ummm, Trivium? Two new Tool albums; I don't really see how you can say music is shit, when we are still getting great records.
Being a 90s child as well, I don't understand all the elitism.
So what if the 90s were better? I bet people born in the early 80s did the same thing, saying the 90s were shit.
these things are periods of time. They no longer exist, so why get your panties in a bunch over it? I still enjoy many of the 90s creations, like Hey Arnold and company, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make a thread denouncing another decade just because I like the 90s better. The fact of the matter is that we're here now in 2013, so why not try and make this decade awesome as fuck and stop living in the past?

While I agree I think there's a little more to it than that. Globalization doesn't just mean an increase in popularity. More like a variety in audience. If you're interested in something it's incredibly easy not to pay attention to the Mainstream.

Nothing was ever better than it is now. People who bitch and moan about today are literally the most fucking boring people in the World.

I was also a kid in that era and I sure as hell wasn't listening to Nirvana until I was a bit older. Only people born in the 80's could've enjoyed early 90's music in its prime.

Aye.
Except, I liked a lot of that rehashed garbage. Bonobo and Emancipator made for good consonant listening, especially in their earlier albums. The Flashbulb created a shit-ton of interesting tunes. Squarepusher pushed out some unforgettable listening. Other artists continued to dish out more off of an already-impressive discography.
The 2000's were an episode of impressive stylistic change and sonic refinement. By contrast, the 90's featured more clear appropriation, with music coming together and crossing strict predefined borders. I'm not one to put the 90's in rose-tinted glasses, having been born late '94 and hardly remembering them, but through study and common sense can see the value of each period. Pop culture may have become less desirable, but looking beyond that, and scrounging Bandcamp for good records, one can certainly form a better and more positive outlook on the music of today. Even 10-13 has been an impressive period for new music, if bringing nothing anthemic like previous time periods have wrought.

Bands/Artists who were making music during 2000-2009:

I've never heard anyone refer to Squarepusher (are Go Plastic, Do you Know, or Ultravisitor even remotely trip-hop? I guess breakbeats are occasionally used, but that's a reach) or The Flashbulb as trip-hop before. They certainly aren't considered trip-hop by any mainstream music critics. Emancipator and Bonobo are late 00s producers and have almost nothing to do with trip-hop, besides palely imitating its sound at times.

I have to agree with this. Should be obvious.
Also all those 90's things OP mentioned are overrated as fuck.
