The Boston bombing suspects were both raised in the U.S., and both had roots in the countries of Kyrgyzstan and the Dagestan territory of Russia. Dagestan has a sizable community of Chechen people, an ethnic group that is mainly found in the Chechnya territory of Russia, a heavily Islamic region. Chechnya has suffered a lot of wars and violence, especially the First Chechen War a conflict between the Russian Federation and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, that lasted from 1994 to 1996. Thousands of Chechen soldiers and civilians were killed.
The suspects are both Chechen people, and some people have made offensive, racist comments towards Chechens and Russians on Twitter, YouTube, and other sites. Comments like "fuck the chechens" are plentiful on Twitter, and people who make these comments come from all around the world. The suspects' uncle even said that the bombings and shootings they are suspected of having committed put a shame to not only their family but their ethnicity. The population of Chechens in the United States is quite scant, enumerating at less than 1,000 people with that ancestry. Most of the Chechens in the U.S. live in the Boston area, mainly in Watertown and Cambridge.
People, obviously, also made Islamophobic comments everywhere online after and before the authorities releasing the suspects' identities. Why do people need to have such bigotry towards people who have certain beliefs or come from a certain country or ethnic groups? I do not agree with what every religion may say but I find it that it is their business.
Another question is: Have you ever met a Chechen, or a person from Kyrgyzstan? Their culture is quite fascinating and they do not deserve the hate they are getting now.

In less than a year, most Americans won't remember what a Chechen is.

I don't even think half of them know any other nationalities than their own. It is believed that the true American in its natural habitat isn't aware of the world that surrounds it.
You can calm down now, Americans, of course I'm picking on the stereotypes...

I don't believe so; the Boston Marathon attacks were not necessarily a declaration of war by a country or group.
