you understand anatomy by studying it, researching it and drawing it.
When you look at a picture you have to think of it as a whole in terms of how it connects together. how the body flows and on to a whole.
Think of how the biceps flow up under the shoulder and leading in to the arm pit. Same with the pectorals. Think how the extensors and flexors wrap around the forearm and how they control the hand.
Pick up some cheap little muscle charts for for study guides, or look up them up on the net. and when you next look at the the human body, really concentrate on how they all go together.
Do the same for the human skeleton.
Study and sketch from references and it'll all start to make some sense in time. But remember, it doesn't happen a overnight
