Thought i'd make a silly thread, just out of boredom and curiosity. I want to see what people favorite genres and sub-genres. this could be for movies, games, books, anything really. you can just out right say it, or copy this and fill it out.

Yeah, they are lol. alot of these can be lumped together, i think with "Animated" more of what i meant was like, 3-d stuff, like dreamworks or pixar etc. regardless thats still "Family/Animated/Cartoon" lol

also, have to agree with you on indie and foreign. There are some pretty good ones out there, but just like big time movies, there's a lot of shit you have to wade through first.

Just want to say first that I'll watch any film if it's good, regardless of what genre it's in.

-Comedy

This is a genre with loads of bad films and only a handful of good ones. Still, I check out a comedy every now and again.

-Drama

I guess most of the films I watch can be categorized as drama. It's about as broad as the rock genre in music.

-Romance

I'm not that interested in these kind of films. Especially the romantic comedy genre is incredibly lame.

-Documentary

I haven't watched many documentaries.

-Fiction
-Non-Fiction

These two contain like everything ever made, don't they? I'll just say I don't care all that much whether something is (based on) a true story or not.

-Western

Contains a lot of good films.

-Scifi

I don't watch that much scifi, but I don't dislike the genre either.

-Classic Fantasy

You mean like... Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings?

Interesting when there's creativity and effort put into them.

-Action

I like an action film every now and again. Even the bad ones are sometimes enjoyable to watch.

-Mystery

I do like films that have an element of mystery to them, but only if they work it out well. I don't like it when they leave you too much in the dark or go explaining every single detail at the end.

-Apocalyptic (like doomsday movies)
-Post-Apocalyptic

Sometimes interesting.

-Sports

Not a genre that has produced brilliant pictures as far as I know. I've seen a few decent ones, but I can't remember seeing anything in the sports genre that was truly ground breaking.

-Historic

How much I'm interested in them depends a little on what they're about I guess.

-Family

I usually avoid them at the theatre, but some have a lovely nostalgic feel to them like Home Alone and E.T.

-Cartoon (classic or newage)
-Animated

I like animation, although it is a genre where they rehash the same thematics and storyline structure a lot.

-Indie

I don't particularly care for indie films. Sometimes they have original ideas to them, but sometimes they fail to really make it work. So heh...

-Foreign

I don't really consider that a genre, but I do watch plenty of foreign (language) films.

-War

There are lots of good war films, but I feel like a lot of them are quite similar.
