Two explosions went off recently at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Story still developing.

What's being gained by this? Why? At this point I gotta wonder. Why murder random strangers? I mean since when has chaos and violence become motivation?
Are they trying to use terror to attempt to start campaigns to revoke the peoples civil liberties? I just got this weird ass feeling man.

As of now, 2 are dead and 22 are injured in the blast, and we still have no idea what caused the explosions, but it seems like DC and New York are already taking precautions right now.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

I feel bad for those dead or injured, but I would like to point out that the news would be in an utter shit-storm if it was caused by guns and not bombs.

Now there are more reports that there is another bomb that was found nearby, but was disabled before it exploded. Now the injury toll is now at 28 hurt and 2 dead as of now, things are definitely getting serious now.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

HME, home made explosive. Apparently the two bombs (or at least one of them) was full of ball bearings, which means it was a shrapnel bomb.
As far as 'who did it' goes, anything as of right now is just speculation. If this was a planned terrorist attack orchestrated by an extremist group, which it looks like it was, then they wouldn't just blow shit up for the sake of blowing shit up. They'd likely release a manifesto and send it out to all the news organizations/the police etc. I don't think this was done by one person.

Aw, man. This is terrible.
Well, here's how I look at it:
If the bombs were set by someone hoping to push a cause: They will claim responsibility and extend their cause through this claim.
If the bombs were set by someone hoping to kill many people: There is a good chance that he/she will not set claim to these crimes. Which is going to make things a helluv-a-lot harder for the Boston PD.
Anyone have any crazy conspiracies? North Korea? Cuba? Government plot? Lets here it.

A good question. I'd have to think foreigners (or government spooks) would be the only ones who would want to hurt civilians.
Are they trying to use terror to attempt to start campaigns to revoke the peoples civil liberties? I just got this weird ass feeling man.
Same here dude. I'd gladly take the chance on getting fragged in some mindless attack, than to lose any more freedoms.

I suspect just a run-of-the-mill whackjob(s). I think an extremist terrorist plot or an act of agression from a hostile government would have been more significant and we'd be dealing with many more casualties.

It looks absolutely chaotic over there and I'm still following the story. Looks like a very well-planned terrorist attack (whether they're from the Middle East, another part of the world or here doesn't matter--terrorism is terrorism), but all of the information will be out after the investigation runs its course. I can't think of any good reason to do stuff like this, and although I personally haven't seen the stepped up police patrols where I live, I bet they're covering most of Manhattan right now.

Apparently a 3rd explosion went off at the JFK Library, but they aren't sure if its connected to the ones at the marathon or not.
But no injures are being reported from that explosion.
Also the injury toll is now at 64.

This was not the work of a foreign government. They wouldn't be putting amateur bombs in a trashcan.
