Because she shit on the working classes constantly, and the improvements she made did little for the average person, and in fact actually made loads of people shit poor, especially up north. Shes pretty much the biggest reason why Northern England is a lot worse than Southern England, even Edward Heath was better than her.

Your Northern economy was failing before Thatcher came into power. It wasn't going to last regardless of who came into power. I think the North of England Scotland and Wales hated her is because she changed the Conservative Party I mean compared to the leadership now it was almost working class conservatives. Theirs was definitely failing, but it wasnt impossible to fix. She just killed it off because the move from mining and heavy industry to services bettered the richer people.

I guess you have to know politics to understand the feelings alot of people in this thread have for/against Margaret Thatcher. I'd always thought she was supposed to be ok, but reading some of these posts, I see that I was just hearing the media version.
