He wasn't really snobbish. It could have been the biting satire of the Mayor Ebert from the 1998 Godzilla movie.

He may RIP even though there are reviews of his in my humble opinion should rot in hell. Do you think he'll be buried with two thumbs up?

Roger Ebert was one of the most reasonable reviewers. He often reviewed movies based on what the movies were going for and not what he wanted out of them. And he wasn't a snob about it. He was one of the few reviewers whose opinion I could take into consideration. Otherwise, I'd just consider the general consensus.

Of course, I don't let such things completely decide for me whether or not to give a movie a chance.

Anyway, he seemed cool. I'ts too bad.

How is this not getting more attention? I disagree with a lot of his opinions but this is pretty big

his website which is used by many is now going to be completely inactive

there will no longer be Roger Ebert in the reception of every wiki page for a movie

Remember when he literally had a massive rage over video games?

It was. People on Twitter literally are like "good riddance, he didn't think video games were art, he deserves to have died."

Shit like that certainly doesn't help to diminish the notion that all gamers are insecure manchildren.

Some people have actually said that Doug Walker, aka the Nostalgia Critic, will become the next big film critic.

I swear, that guy has some of the most delusion fanboys I've ever seen.

They think the general public actually cares about him and TGWTG.

Ebert's writing has had an enormous influence on my life and he was one of my personal heroes. This is so sad.

I didn't always agree with him, but if you look at the top twenty or so movies on my favorites list almost all of them came from his recommendation. If you're looking to get more into film, his Great Movies list, which is now complete I guess, is a fantastic place to start.

I've always hated that saying. You mean he died? Sure "passed away" sounds less harsh and you can argue more respectful, but it's not like he cares.

I always associate the term "passing away" with Passing gas...

I like Doug, but there is a HUGE difference between a published film critic and someone who makes funny youtube videos...

at least, I think so.

He doesn't make YouTube videos though. He has his own website, and people rip his videos and then put them on YT. But, yeah forget about it, that guy doesn't have a career in criticizing films...

One of the greatest film critics of all time. Well we still have Richard Roeper and Leonard Maltin.
