Ever notice how the comments on Youtube song videos get a lot less retarded on the more obscure songs? Go ahead, check out a song with several million views vs one with 100,000 or less. Big drop in the standard Justin Bieber remarks, lame dislike bar jokes, teenagers insulting today's music, and childish insults.

Same thing happens everywhere, if there's ten random people in a conversation at a party it's going to be p hectic and shallow, vs. two or three people with like interests having a conversation.

You could say that about everything. The less popular a movie is the less annoying the fans are. The less popular a book is the better the discussion. Blah blah blah.

Justin Bieber 's videos are basically open chat rooms with no moderator. It's the same childish shit like trolls vs fanbois and flame wars everywhere.

Yeah that probably only happens with you guys, I still see some pretty retarded shit in more underground-ish songs. But yeah at least it isn't as retarded as the comments in popular videos. It's like popular shit attracts retarded people, and there are way more retarded people out there than people with at least a bit of intelligence

IDK youtube seems to be plagued with shitty comments to the point where it's become a cultural thing.

yea i guess

the smaller view number generally means that a song is less popular and will therefore mean the people who have actually listened to it and took the time to comment are pretty niche, which would then attribute a higher probability of their comment being something that isn't an attempt at being hilarious and witty

thumbs up if yor here cuz ur good taste lol
3 dislikes? justin beibr musta dunit her cuz the musik good xD

You're kidding?

I've lost count of how many obscure old songs I've listened to on youtube and seen the top comments being something so bad as;

"Its 2012 and I'm listening to this"

Obscured songs generally have more pretentious comments

for instance, look at a Boards of Canada video

Because only friends and fans are commenting compared to people who mistakenly may have watched a video, or just pain haters posting

Those ones are fucking annoying, but the ones I find even more annoying are the "HURRR 1000BC ON MY iSTONE", I can't fucking stand the Youtube comments section, it's just a clusterfuck of horse shit.

How about "First"

I mean, no-one cares if you are the first to comment. You don't get any kind of reward or anything, you just make yourself look like a fool.

I'm only subscribed to obscure channels. The fanbase is fucking amazing on channels with like 10K-20K subs.

It's not because I'm a hipster.

The popular phenomenon can also be explained with this.

Really? I thought this'd be common sense.

The more comments you have the higher a percentage you have for people to make an unrelated reply, I'm sure 90% of all of the first 100 or so comments on a video related to the actual video, the higher amount of people you have commenting the more chances you have of their being that one guy who goes off topic.

"First" doesn't bother me as much as the blatant thumbwhore comments. I agree with what you're saying though, I don't get why it's such a big deal getting first comment, no one will remember you for it, or something like that.

Yeah, but you get a considerable amount of people bragging about listening to it.

That is why I take pride in running my small channel, because I know my viewers and subscribers that I attract are more educated and intelligent then what you may find on larger channels.

Unpopular opinion is always the most interesting. Everything unpopular is interesting because you're not normally exposed to it. It's hard to be satisfied with pop cutler crap and that's why counter culture exists.

It's why I stopped using Reddit. The comments are nothing but boring, predicable crap.

You are assuming that how interesting something is has a direct relationship with how much you are exposed to it. Since "interesting" is a subjective quality, this premise is flawed.

Also, if how interesting something is depends on how much you are exposed to it, and you exposed yourself to it, wouldn't that make what you are exposing yourself to less interesting?
