"This" or "That" but way subjective.

Anime
I hate it when people say that anime is nothing more than cartoons
It was at one point, but it has developed it's own style
When someone draws anime characters, they don't say "I'm drawing japanese cartoon characters", they say "I'm drawing anime characters"
Get real people
Personally, I like American animation more.
I can't judge too much. cause I don't really watch any anime.
Anime is the Japanese word for any animation.
~Sweet memories of us I do recall~
~Dear angel please come back before I fall~
occidental cartoons vs japanese cartoons, hmmm
it depends on each show, they can share subjects, they only change the delivery
i personally watch 1 episode of anime per day (i dont like them ending so i stretch the situation), but there are some good stuff on cartoon network (nelvana stuff is good), adventure time, young justice.
but most is shit
Its only rape if you say no.
Say no to rape.

Exactly. I know people have a certain style in their head when they think "anime" or maybe some common characteristics, but nothing you think of is a qualifier. And there's anime out there that doesn't follow that. They don't all look similar.
My problem with anime is repetitive styles and generic plots and characters. Every girl is a sex object regardless of age and someone has to have zany hair and a stupid personality, also having a "pervert" character has proven to be a staple in many comedy animes. Not to mention far too many animes have hundreds of episodes but very little going on in each one. Dragonball Z is a prime example. "What's that, you wanted to see the full battle? Well that's just gonna take 10 fucking episodes so make sure to tune in next time on-" You get the point.
Not all Anime is bad or very generic, just a shit ton of it, especially compared to western animation. Anyone remember "Bonkers" or Darkwing Duck? How about Hey! Arnold or Doug? Gargoyles was a cooler, more dramatic show for kids. Each one has a unique style and characters, its what makes those shows worth re-watching. Now I still like a few animes, I enjoyed Full Metal Alchemist and the first couple arcs of Bleach (after Rukia was saved it really really went down hill with so much filler and typical anime bullshit).

There was a point where I favored anime over other cartoons, but various things over the course of time have made me change my mind. I guess I never really saw any truly good ones, and now I'm just not interested.

Darkwing Duck was the shit.
Why hasn't that been made into a movie yet? You'd think it would be a natural for Disney, with how popular superhero movies are right now.

They should have tried to turn Wizards of Mickey into a movie or tv series.
Ride that Harry Potter wave.
Definitely some anime, not all.
Most cartoons nowadays just suck too much, but anime usually changes it up a bit.
Manhwa is cool too.

Us 90s kids had superior entertainment from the 90s liek 90s cartoons and 90s videogames. Superior objects from a superior time period that superior people used. Everything was better back before because the 90s. Kids today will never understand the 90s. Only 90s kids can remember cartoons from the 90s because the 90s were so much better than the 00s and 80s which didn't have any good cartoons because they weren't made in the 90s from where I remmber most of my 90s cartoons from
and
Manhwa isn't even animation what the fuck are you doing

This man speaks the truth. Anime is short for animation, meaning anything that is animated is anime. So as much as I hate to say this something as shitty as family guy is anime while something as awesome as the cartoon below is also anime.

Swat Kats is on tv right now.
original I am.
Depends on the show or movie or whatever
sorry
Some animes are good, and some American cartoons are good, and vice versa.
sorry
Anime.
The only cartoons showing now that I actually like us Afventure Time and Regular Show. I also kind of like the amazing world of gumball.
Japanese animation is objectively better than American animation.
When you take something seriously, you end up exploring the storytelling spectrum more than the country who just does comedy.

more better
yeah, that's, no that's perfect.
I like fence sitting. Both have flaws and redeeming qualities.
I hate how most animes can't make a believable human character, everyone is either a badass or a whiney shit.
I hate cartoons that are so unfunny they have to resort to ass flashing for humor. (I hate cow and chicken, baboon and weasel, etc etc.)

Anime, because cartoons are often shallow and generic.
