No matter how much caffeine I would consume, or how much sugar I would shove into my mouth, I would always find my chin resting on my chest during my nurse's aide course.
It wasn't solely because I knew the material (which I did, thank you biology in high school), but that the teacher wouldn't add any notes to the powerpoint that she would print out, so she would just read what was in front of us. It was also fairly basic biology and pathophysiology. As well, the room was incredibly warm and there weren't any breezes, so, like the reptilian-human hybrid that I am, the warmth consumed me and I would jerk awake at random times during class.
Also, I was working at Starbucks roughly 32-35 hours a week, so I would be going straight to work right after class a good chunk of the time, and getting home late to only want to unwind which made me stay up late, only to have to get up early and repeat the process.
I wouldn't have taken the course if I had known it was going to be so straightforward and easy (it seemed it was more catered to ESL students and recently-landed immigrants/visa students, so I was one of three to four people in my class besides the teacher that could speak fluent English).
