Looking at some flashes I see 100mb there for some mp4 and 10mb for some audio files. Of course there are smaller file sizes, but are you guys getting in the range of 10gb-100gb per day or something? And if you do, how the... You have been running this for over 10 years and you're not deleting stuff afaik.
How large are the servers anyhow?
the servers are the size of mountains and the content the size of giants
We enslaved the mythical creatures, shipped them off and used their magical hiding lands to store the NG servers.

Only staff knows. I'd like to know too. Hope they post! :)
As for nothing being deleted, stolen content is deleted all the time, and plenty of work that was deleted in the past, before there was a 'restore' feature for submissions, is permanently gone. it's hard to know how many submissions are still online since the submission ID has nothing to do with the real total, and all of them differ in size. When the site started out submissions were much smaller than they are now, I remember the limit being around 5MB... or maybe it was even less in the beginning, but good flash, in difference from MP4 files, doesn't need to be that big, even if they're long. You can use code instead of included graphics, compress audio, loop certain parts of the animation and use one graphic resource multiple times, where as any graphic in a video file makes the file bigger each time it's used. Flash really is practical that way.
But anyway, I have a personal collection of NG audio that's over 200 GB, which consists of less than a tenth of all tracks, so I'm guessing only the audio portal takes up at least one TB. Flash probably takes up much more than that. Art... maybe not so much? Would be interesting to know. :)
Hopefully @TomFulp actually checks his NG Social shit

Anywhere from a warehouse (I doubt, lol) of data storage to a couple of PC servers at home. Friends and I used to run file sharing service site and we only had 7 database servers for storage in our homes. HDD are cheaps...
I think NG is probably renting storage. There main servers are from their office though. File servers from different locations. (nothing is certain on robtex traces).
But why do you care?
It uses 10 clouds from 10 different providers.
