Horror fiction will likely soon be dead my friend. Just my opinion though; and I hope it isn't accurate.

I agree that they will eventually die, but I don't think it will be as soon as one might expect. Tons of people in my generation that read still prefer paper over screen.

The price gap will widen. E-books will be cheaper and as more people start buying them paper publishers will jack up their prices to cover the losses. There's no innovation in the industry anymore, they just look for a quick buck and that will inevitably be their undoing.

That's not how competition works. In this scenario, the paper publishers would most likely end up lowering prices, not raising them... I'm not following your logic.

Nevertheless, I do agree with you that paper books are becoming less popular. Bottom line is that they will never entirely die out, though; and, if they do, it certainly won't be simply because e-books are a cheaper alternative.

Underneath the earth, in a cavernous channel only known to the ancients, a vile and twisted darkness lurked, watching and waiting. Knowing all was it's only purpose until the accidental awakening. You see, before the ancients had discovered the darkness, the darkness had no idea of existence. But as the story always goes, once you disturb nothing, anything can happen. One by one, the ancients all gazed upon the darkness and gained insight into the world which no one had ever fathomed, but the knowledge was such, that it contained things no one need ever consider. While before the path was set, know the alternate paths had been unlocked. And as such, the darkness was no longer confined to absence. And long before anyone even realized something was happening, it was already over. Because when you unlock choice, you still need to make the right one to keep going. Once the darkness was unlocked, it swallowed all it could see, and even though the light still existed and was capable of returning, all anyone could see was the darkness. And so it remains, until otherwise noted, that all existence is on the path of the darkness in the cave returning to what it was, and always was, which of course, is nothing.
