I'm looking for a type of game

I'm not much of a forum guy on here, so I hope I'm posting this in the right section. It's more of an inquiry than anything but I don't know where else to ask this.

I was in the mood for a castle defense style game, but not one of those where you have a premade castle and you are just creating towers or fighting off the ramparts with a wizard.

I'm looking for a castle defense game where you build the castle yourself, either with blocks or by drawing it out. There actually used to be an old school game back on the Amiga (and i think commodore as well, basically back in the DOS days) that was CALLED Castles that had the similar idea. You ruled as a king and would build a castle based on resources in your land and barbarians would come in from time to time to take down your throne. It was a simple, low graphic game but I found it to be alot of fun (and the diplomacy end of it was nice, though a tad meh.)

Another game that had similar qualities to what I'm looking for was Rampart. It was a game where you had sections to build a makeshift fort/castle and apply towers to shoot away invading ships. video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKp-XeRfytY&noredirect=1 I know this is basically a tower style defend, but it had the option of making your fort in whatever shape or size you like, with extra points if you were able to expand it to the other fort spots in the limited construction time.

So, to summarize, what kind of castle defense games are out that have a custom build of a castle? I've only found premade castle defense games.

If one isn't made, is anyone working on one? I'd be glad to help in whatever way I can if so.

Oh i forgot to clarify. I'm trying to find a FLASH game of something like this, not a console or physical medium. Something to waste time on my laptop with.

Hmmm, I've been doing a search (admittedly a quick glance) and, while there arn't that many with the concept of building YOUR OWN towers/castles to defend I've found Castle Defense (graphic wise, not pretty, but you DO have a hand in building what you defend, and there ARE "resources" of a sort ^_^) & Gaddy's Castle Defense seems like a good one. Check these out for yourself. And there SHOULD be others here @ Newgrounds & elsewhere. Enjoy!

Nope, the missing edit button has become a feature of tradition. :)

As for the game you are searching for, I've played a great deal of Castle/Tower Defense games, but never one where you could build the castle yourself. I remember some featuring upgradeable weapons that were actually seen on the palisade, but that's as far as it goes, and I suppose that's not what you are looking for? I looked around a bit, but didn't found anything, but... I can't just post nothing so here's a few entertaining games about castles, without building abilities:

Hope you find what you're looking for! As for the original Castles game on GOG, have you bought/played it already? They work on any modern OS, so if there's nothing else, there's always that!

I appreciate the effort from both of ya, and yes I had the original castles and played it before, but I was looking for something fresh and more modern. I'll check out ya'll's suggestion in a little bit. I'm saddened the idea of a custom castle hasn't caught on anywhere.....

âEUoeFresh & modernâEU in what way? As in the "castle" is a space station/military base fighting against alien/robotic enemies, taking you out of the "medieval" theme? Or something new to the TD genre itself, regardless of theme?

The portal allows for a good search with a REASONABLE chance of finding what your looking for. With the number of TD games this site alone has, chances are good at least ONE of these games has the specs your looking for.

Interesting concept though.... I'll keep looking myself. And if all else fails, you COULD suggest the idea to a creator or TD games series' or flash game creators in general. Many of them are always looking for ideas. ^_^
