I would like to get into vinyl, but I dont have my own place so it would be just for the collecting for right now.

vinyl sounds warmer "bigger" wider and due to some noise the higher frequencies are more noticeable

frequencies that arent even Fully represented on a redbook CD

educate yourself\

if theres a vinyl release more often than not thats what the album should be heard on

I disagree. I have to get up and flip it 4 times to listen to a freaking 80-minute album. It's an absolute nightmare.

But then again, albums from that time were tailored to this, so maybe I'm just silly collecting CD albums on vinyl.

True, you have to get up and turn the record over every 25 minutes or so which may be a little annoying sometimes.

The thing is, I find that with a CD (or MP3) I'm way more eager to just skip the tracks I don't feel like listening to, whereas with vinyl I'll always listen to the albums in full (probably because I don't feel like getting up every 5 minutes). I know it's a silly, illogical argument, but for some reason it gives me a better experience.

You have a point. I notice that many people often skip songs they don't like.

However, whenever I listen to an album I never skip songs, only after having heard the album in its entirety and therefore would like to focus on the individual tracks. I separate those two as different activities and I always stick to one of them. But this may be since I'm used to listening with headphones, where it doesn't make much of a difference if there's soothing calm music or a guy breaking windows, dogs barking and kitchenware being thrown around.

This also makes me believe that people could expand their music view if they made further use of headphone listening. I have many albums that I would never play on speakers. But this may just be me since I was raised to never bother thy neighbour.

it really pisses me off when people refer to records as vinyls, and record players as vinyl players. i mean FUCK

yeah i love vinyl, i've been collecting it for about a year now. my setup isn't the most expensive, but i probably have a few hundred, from all different genres. i've got some rare stuff, but the gem of my collection has got to be this box set of we're new here, the jamie xx remix album of gil scott heron

coloured vinyl, only 200 in existence, ye bwoi

Thank you for the video.
I'm actually curious about a few things now after watching it.
1. How it doesn't melt in the sleeve. I mean....it IS chocolate after all.
2. Does the needle cause the grooves in the chocolate to be deeper whenever you play it? And if so does the chocolate come off onto the needle when its being played.

Its analog so its technically always lossless, plus you cant brickwall/clip vinyl records or the head will jump the fuck up all over the place so for specific albums its many magnitudes better.

It really does sound different than other musical mediums. It's probably the material that gives it the crispy/raspy sound quality it has. If it's better or not is a matter of opinion though.

Heard plenty good things about it, but the whole deal is too expensive for me, plus I listen to music a lot on the go, at night and on the car, in none of these can I use the vinyl player.

You know it was at one point possible to get record players for cars right?

granted its mostly for older cars (like 50s and 60s) but it was (and i think it still is) available

Still too expensive, and I'm not carrying 10 vinyls to the car as I do with CDs.

But come on, realistically, is all that worth it for just tiny differences in audio in a car?

I have a mass of different vinyl collections.

about 80-some vinyls of Hardstyle, 56 of Hardcore, 3 schranz vinyls (gift from a friend,) then i got some random assorted goodies like noisia, praga khan, ferry corsten, some darkpsy trance laying around. basically anything I felt like buying at the time.

I keep Vinyl mainly because I still play them live, to be honest with a good mixer the sound can be comparable to digital. especially mixed with digital.

I'm probably going to get some more with my tax refund, not sure what I'd like to buy from then on though.

Besides dumb fuck vinyl has been popular since it was first created which was a LOOOOOONG time before the 70s. And has never really gone down all that much in popularity. Please think before you speak next time. Because that last post of yours made you sound like an idiot.

Massive massive waste of money, on a scale that is almost incomprehensible.

Plus it will take up space and time. Why?
That's like people with huge DVD / CD / Book / Video game collections.
You don't watch or play all of these. The resale value of all this crap is almost nothing and it's hard to get rid of.

Technology gave you the gift of digital media and people are still hoarding garbage, citing things like they "appreciate the cover art" and the "feel of books". You're just being a pack rat, get rid of all that shit, you don't need it.

Put your money in the bank, spend it on experiences ( vacations, restaurants, cool trips, bungee, dates... whatever ) or spend it on a hobby that improves your life or is long-term ( like a sport, gym membership, social clubs of some kind ).

In 10 years you'll have a big useless vinyl collection that you don't give a shit about, have to lug around every time you move and can't sell except at a huge loss. If you could trade it then for 5000$ in your bank account, you'd do it. SO do future you a favor. Don't get into this.

Did you read the thread? Don't ask things that you know don't have or ever will have a definitive answer. Vinyl is expensive, sure. This is apparent to everybody. Take up space and time? Isn't that the point?

The point is owning vinyl and enjoying it. Not anything else. I'm not concerned with resell value. Your posts are always so fucking opinionated. Grow up.
