Soul eater

Soul eater is an anime that has started airing on Toonami, as for how old it actually is I don't know. I'm fairly certain it's been around for a bit, because a few of the characters look incredibly familiar, particularly Death the kid.

So, basically, it takes place in a fictional universe where a long time ago a super evil and powerful force tried to end all life, but ironically death himself, got together with a whole bunch of badasses and put this super evil force down.

After that, he started an institute where people with certain special abilities can go and train to "eat" the souls of targets deemed a threat. You've got two types of people, "Weapon meisters", which are people who can manipulate "Human weapons", people who can morph into different weapons according to whatever the weapon meisters needs at the moment.

So far I've only seen one episode, and I already love it. I'm not gonna go into detail about it's style and whatnot, so if you haven't seen it, here's the first (to my knowledge, Toonami advertised it as the first) episode.

From what I've seen (only a handful of episodes) it's a decent shonen anime. I think the theme song was all that really hooked me in, to begin with though. That shit is catchy.

It came out in 2008. I watched it in 2009 and am currently re-watching it with a friend of mine. As much as I love the show, the ending to it is incredibly rushed and at least to me, rather disappointing.

God damn I loved this show. I loved it so much I watched it twice in a row (and yet my memory is so bad I can't remember a lot of details). I'd place it in my top 5 favourite anime. Just the style and atmosphere - animation and music alike - was enough to get me to love it. Favourite bits were the Excalibur episodes and just Black Star as a character. Shit I think I'm gonna watch it again. :3
