How much do you pay for a haircut?

I think the idea of paying for a haircut really sucks, if you think about it... We have no choice but to grow hair, and if you don't want to be bald that means you pretty much have to goto a hairdresser.
I was fortunate growing up that my mother was a hairdresser and had a salon in the house, and now that I'm out on my own I am fortunate that my girlfriend prefers to cut my hair, so we don't have to worry about paying for a haircut, and the 10-15 dollars can go toward anything else, like dinner, or a date of some sort.

I do maintain it. I use conditioner and shampoo and brush it at least 50-100 strokes a day. Altho, my gf really hates it because her dog chokes on it all the time.

I do want to re color it because when I was younger it was black, but I went through a phase where I colored it red, blue, and green so now 10 years later it's fading to brownish.

My barber charges $17 for the haircut and beard trimming, but I usually slip them $25.

I tend to give a bit more to my barber because (a) it's a small time, family-owned business, not some national chain, (b) they really keep the place quality with flatscreen TVs and barbers who know what they are doing, and (c) when I had longer, girly hair back in college, I used to be charged in the $30-35 range at another place, so I'm already paying less than I am used to.
