Pay homage to your lord of purgatory, Back-From-Purgatory, for stepping in as sig-maker at the last minute.

Congrats fellas, all great works here! Good to see the "quality of instruments doesn't matter if your composition is great" rule carried through. That no. 1 is nearly flawlessly executed composition-wise.

It was one of the things that I put foremost in the criteria for the judges to follow. Not everyone has / can afford the same sample packs after all.

Congrats to the everyone! MaestroRage, thebenjerman and I spent several hours discussing all of the submissions -- there were some fantastic compositions across the board. As Brokendeck said, we put focus on the quality of both composition and orchestration over production value (though that was still a small factor). We wanted to to make sure those with the latest and greatest samples didn't win by default, and that is reflected in the results.
Congrats again!

Hooray! Thank you for the honor of placing 4th! Also, congratulations to the other winners as well as many others who entered ... after listening to some of the other entries, this is obviously a very talented community and I'm glad to be a part of it. :)
Question -- is there going to be any kind of breakdown of scores? I saw another contest results thread on this forum where there was a scorecard with different scores for writing, mix/master, originality etc ... Is that something all the audio contests on NG do or is each contest handled differently?

The judging system is different for every contest, and for the MACs, they generally don't use score cards. The judging for this particular MAC was done via a live voice conference between 3 judges, who then reached a consensus as to the top placements.

I'll go around to the top 4 and leave detailed reviews, breaking them down into composition, orchestration, and production value categories. In past competitions I've been really quick with those reviews but I'm really swamped with work right now, so it'll take me a little more time to get through the list. I will -- however -- get through them, you'll just need to be a little patient as I find time for each one! :)

I'll do something similar as soon as I have the time as well.
Congrats to everyone, this was a really hard one to judge! The last couple of decisions took hours.
