$12 Mastering!

Hey all,

I am now offering to master tracks for $12.00 AUD each. This also means that if I hear something wrong in your mix, I will assist you in fixing it, before the mastering process.

Your tracks will be mastered on a pair of Yamaha MSP5's, and a KRK 10S subwoofer. The mastering software is state-of-the-art.

And you have absolutely nothing to lose! Here's how it works:

1) Add me on Skype, or send me a message, and share your mix with me. I will let you know my opinion on the sonics, and help you to fix anything, should it need to be fixed.
2) When you are 100% happy with your mix, you send me the 24-bit .wav file, and I will master it.
3) I will send you a 1:30 (or thereabouts) preview of your mastered track. If you like it, great! You send me the money via Paypal, and I will send you the full mastered version. If you want anything to be changed, you just let me know, and I will change it.

I master all kinds of music.

I cannot guarantee my work will be the quality of most experienced professional mastering engineers out there, but they charge around $70+. I'm only asking a small amount for those who have trouble mastering their tracks, or who want their tracks to be worked on in a different acoustic environment, or who want a second opinion on their work before it is released.

And having that second ear really helps your track, you will be surprised how good he makes your song sound.

Secondly, IMO you are in no place to be mastering tracks. You dont have the ear for it currently, as I can tell by your own tracks.

Also the professional rates ive heard around is usually closer to 30, but it varies drastically

I don't see why this post is necessary, John-Paul. I'm offering services for a really cheap price, and devised a you-don't-like-you-don't-pay system, because I am aware that I am not as good as most professional mastering engineers, which I stated. But hey, if a client wants me to give their track a shot, and they like the preview I send, everybody's happy, right?

But thanks for posting a post which will now effect the mentality of those who may have been considering giving me a shot, and may have actually liked my work. This makes it just that bit harder to make up some money for all the resources and tools I have spent my life's earnings on.

And I haven't heard of professional mastering as low as $30, but if that is true, I'm still charging less than 50% of that, which I think is totally fair. And hey, the client does not even need to pay anything if they don't like the service.

Luckily, I doubt many people on Newgrounds are interested in paying for mastering, so your disapproving post will probably not affect my reputation that much, but maybe you should consider that:

1. I am not trying to rip anybody off. I am charging an appropriate amount for my service.
2. I am not charging any money unless the client is 100% satisfied.
3. I am trying to make a small amount of money to make up for all the money I have spent, and so I continue to do what I love doing more and more. If I can make small amounts of money with my audio work, I can afford more time to work on music and audio, and may not need to work many hours in a day-job, which takes up time.

So why is it necessary to shoot me down? Maybe you should consider these points before you next state your opinion, which could negatively affect somebody else's fortune, when that person is just trying to improve and prosper in what he/she does.

It might be a good idea to run your own website with a services page with pricing and all that.

This way you can just share your webpage with people instead of relying a BBS post to spread it around.
