What media player do you use? 2013-02-19 21:24:56 Reply

Right now I am using the media player that comes with windows7. However I hate the layout. I want to find a media player that is like the old napster. If anyone here remembers that or not. The layout in songs condensed together is what I am looking for, or very simlar to the XP windows version media player.

I seriously hate the media player I got, and I cant seem to customise so I like it.

itunes

it's stable (unlike fb2k, although i do use fb2k to play DSD/Super Audio CDs and other formats that no other media player supports), has unparalleled playlist/tagging/sorting/etc support, supports the best lossless format (alac), has the best interface, manages my phone/ipod, has a library that is easily backed up etc

Winamp for audio, wmp for video. Wmp works always works perfectly fine for me if I have good codecs.

This has nothing to do with hating Apple.

It has to do with supporting open source projects.

They work just as well as the other programs anyways.

Zune and still loving it. Can't wait to see what Xbox Music will bring in the next major release, though.

lol, you use winamp

i don't even have to argue with you

at least i could respect you if you said musicbee, fb2k, or even amarok

i could see how people might like those players more than itunes and they have comparable features, but winamp, really?

I dont need pointless features, and thats completely irrelevent.

The fact is that iTunes is clearly not the best unless you purchase music from it, and saying ALAC is better than FLAC is probably the stupidest thing Ive heard so far this year to the point where im stuggling to believe you arent trolling.

VLC or Windows Media Center depending on the file type.

VLC has been dicking up lately, though; I'll tell it to play a file and it'll take at least 5 minutes to open.

I usually use Windows Media Player.
For files that it won't run, I use VLC.

standardized metadata

support on idevices

both things that flac lacks

the only advantages that flac files actually have are boring, useless (to me), technical details (integrated replaygain support! slightly better compression!)

Flac is undeniably supported on far more things such as Android (natively).

Which makes flac better for most people who arent you.

android devices suck

and standardized metadata alone trumps any tiny technical advantages flac may have
