I don't think so. It's up to 55 now. I don't know why, but for some reason, I thought the most users were on sometime sin 2003. I do vaguely remember a "7" being in there somewhere.

I doubt they did it intentionally. Probably a bug due to all the stuff they had to do when they launched the redesign.

The previous record was arranged though, a planned event were everyone gathered online. So if someone takes the initiative and plans ahead, it shouldn't be that impossible to beat. Might take some inviting outside the forums though..

a. The record would have easily been broken had the servers not crashed on the day of the 2012 redesign.

b. There was a planned event for the weekend after, but not enough registered users showed up.

Perhaps the ultimate record could still be broken in baby steps. So long as the bar is raised every weekend or two.

It is most likely that they reset the counter in order to get a more accurate gauge of the typical amount of users browsing the forums. From what I've noticed, on any given day the number of people browsing tends to hover around 130-150 or so members. Only a small portion of those actually post regularly, however.
