I also remember you. Do you remember me?
I used to think of it as a haven for my online entertainment needs. And this was after hopping off being a regular at ebaumsworld and albinoblacksheep, the comparison of this site and those around 2003 were WAYYYY one sided; NG was the place to go for games and animations. It was just great!
Now, I'm actually pretty stoked in how much it's grown. I wear a Newgrounds patch (and a Mindchamber patch) on my favorite biker jacket, and I have an NG sticker slapped on the side of my motorcycle, and I'm still kinda surprised in how many people in Dallas remember the site. Some people hadn't visited in years, some are still regulars, but they remember distinctly what it stood for. And it still stands for the same stuff, but it's expanding.
I have, and always will, think of NG as limitless potential. When it emblazoned "Everything By Everyone" and the collab functions back in the day were really impressing upon it's users to really promote creativity. And I'm disappointed in the density of Pokemon Parodies and unoriginality in general, but yet, I'm just as guilty of doing the same shit and I know now WHY we do that...it's about a comfort zone. It's about fear in messing up our own works. Yet, with the right push, by the right talent, FROM the right people, it could inspire and ignite a FIRESTORM of original brilliance, and this website has all of the resources, all of the contacts, everything we could possibly need to realize imagination in a physical form.
It's ALREADY a juggernaut of a creative nexus. It's a Portal to inspiration and stimulation. I see nothing but potential, here and within the community. The store is tiny compared to what it WILL be, the portal is cluttered compared to what it WILL be. The ability to share content will improve, everything will improve. It takes time and teamwork, effort, and probably money, but NG will have history to back a legacy that will launch it into the eyes of many.
