It's so tiny compared to the vast distances in space. It could as well have hit some skyscraper in New York and killed millions, but that's just not likely. This occurs only a few times every year and they usually strike some place devoid of humans.

tunguska was a meteorite in a forest but that was way before the 70s

No reported fatalities yet, let's hope it stays that way. It's strange to think this is the largest object to entire our planet since 1908.

On one hand, being injured by space rock would be kind of cool because you're being injured by space rock, but on the other hand that's pretty much the only thing not covered by any insurance ever.
