Olympics to cut Wrestling in 2020.

So, for those of you who don't know: The International Olympic Committee recently voted to get rid of Wrestling as a gold medal sport in the 2020 Olympics.

This is infuriating. The Olympics are going to get rid of the sport that literally EVERY country can participate in but keep stupid ones like Trampoline, Race Walking, Table Tennis (Dominated by China) and Judo (Dominated by Japan)?

Anyway, that's weird for them to get rid of wrestling. I would think they would remove something that hasn't been around since the first Olympics... For example trampoline..

There is actually a shocking decision. Its the sports like football and tennis that need cutting.

They actually have no place in the Olympics set up. Yes I would rather watch the poorest game of football than the greatest wrestling match but the Olympics should always be about the sports you don't see straight away when you turn your tv onto a sports channel, the sports that you don't know but find yourself loving during the Olympics then going to play/join once its all over. Not the ones we see all the damn time already.

Funnily enough, they've cut tennis before. It wasn't a sport you could get a medal in from 1928-1984. It'd be weird if they axed it again.

And like I said I love tennis. Cannot get enough of the grand slams. But it doesn't belong at the Olympics. Neither does football and basketball now I remember that one. Popular sports played by professionals who get paid shit loads for it have no place at the Olympics.

Actually, yeah, now that you mention it.

I'm not necessarily a fan of wrestling, but I agree they shouldn't throw the tradition out. There are plenty of other "sports" they could cut. Dressage comes to mind. The horse is doing the work, so I don't see how the people could be considered as competing.
