Probably the most useful interactive tool on the internet for those who want to dive into the world of electronic music:

http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/

Has examples of all the main genres, groove types and a huge intricate web of sub-genres.

Who knows, this may be a good resource tool as well for those of you who might be struggling to find some inspiration.
Enjoy!

This is been around for a while. It's cool to see how the genres branch, but the descriptions of the genres can be pretty stupid. Especially for jump up where the only description is about how bad and repetitive it is....pretty biased and not very informational if you ask me.

Also the audio quality on the examples has to be like.....28kbps mp3 or something.

Good lookin out though.

Oh man, that thing brings me back. It's some stupid nostalgia, but hey. It's not up to date at all, though, because I'm sure Ishkur would have something to say about dubstep.

Can you feel it mister Krabs?

Well regardless of the age, it's first time I've actually seen such a comprehensive guide to a bracket of the musical genres, disregarding the fairly annoying bias he's got for or against certain genres that prevent you from having a clear description of it.

I'll perhaps make ever so slightly less of a complete fool out of myself whenever I talk to electronic musicians, thanks for the link!

Yeah, it's a nice audio reference guide for the genres, but don't put much weight on the descriptions. As Breed said, they're ultra-biased. Throw in the random, unnecessarily vulgar tone and it's hard to take the write-ups seriously.

Gotta give him credit though for putting this all together!

I thought that the descriptions were kinda funny so long as you know not to take them seriously.

The descriptions made me laugh. At least there are one or two extra artists here and there I might check out.
