ederal investigators are in the midst of an active criminal investigation of disgraced former Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong, ABC News has learned.

The revelation comes in stark contrast to statements made by the U.S. Attorney for Southern California, Andre Birotte, who addressed his own criminal inquiry of Armstrong for the first time publicly on Tuesday. Birotte's office spent nearly two years investigating Armstrong for crimes reportedly including drug distribution, fraud and conspiracy -- only to suddenly drop the case on the Friday before the Super Bowl last year.

Let me explain... the guy rode a bike...
ummm, sure? it's not like he's an NFL, NBA or even a MLB player... I'm sure he didn't inspire an entire generation to become biciclysts... plus, the guy crushed his balls in a bike for money... then got cancer... so... umm... why do we care?

It's not like he'll have a grave, they might have a tomb for his remains once it was done. In the end he did it to himself and let down so many people, but it also tells you how doped up certain sports competitions are whether we like to admit it or not.

and by the sound of it they are giving him a week or so extension to decide to talk and get a more lenient sentencing or else they are going to proceed and charge him with the original charges
