I bet you thought I was talking about the Penny from the show Big Bang Theory, weren't you?

There was something on the news about this in the UK too, but it won't happen over here for a long while yet.

Bazinga?!
Also, today I heard so many people complaining about this. I still think it's for the best.

People are naturally afraid of change (no pun), especially the older they get.
People can still pay with the pennies they have left. And it makes the remaining pennies grow in value as they become scarcer.

One guy just kept going on about how we're getting ripped off since stores will set their prices so they don't have to round down. I was glad when that conversation ended.

The same day we also get rid of the dollar bill in favor of the dollar coin.
Eternal bliss

I doubt it. NES games have been out of production for many years, yet I could find a bunch of them either online, at a thrift store, or at my local Swap Meet/ Flea Market. I know it's comparing apples and oranges, but that just goes to show how things out of circulation are still spread around and saved, and there are much more pennies than there are NES cartridges.
Anyway, this all reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bN6 fxqvGBSs#t=12s

That is so true,. I hate all the wasteful packaging and crap like that/ The worst in my mind is when you buy a bag of sweets and then EVERY sweet inside it is in its own little plastic / paper packaging. If you buy stuff like Chewits this is even more ridiculous as you can buy a 4 pack which obviously comes in a packet, then each of the 4 is individually wrapped THEN each of the sweets inside the roll is individually wrapped. Why waste so much bloody resources on pointless things?

But game cartridges aren't being recycled nearly as often as every coin that gets pulled from circulation.
Carts are worth more in tact than for the materials they contain: Coins, on the other hand, (pennies especially) are the opposite.

I'll admit it: yes.
It's really sad that the government is not using pennies anymore. I'm not really big on them anyway.
Putting the pinch on the penny.
Get rid of nickels and dimes, they're a pain in the ass too.

Actually, I totally meant to link the penny episode. But thanks for responding in interest and making me seem like less of an idiot xP I think bagged cereal should be mandatory, the outer box is totally unnecessary.

I don't get if you're trying to say that pennies ARE going to be around longer because they are recycled even more so than old NES games, since that's what I also said. Or if you're saying that they won't be, since they're worth less...

The number of pennies will quickly disappear because of the metal recycling. However, the few that remain years from now will be worth many times their amount due to their scarcity.
Penny now: Plentiful, and not worth the metal they're made from.
Penny in a decade or two: Rare, and worth way more than their face value.
RIP.
Always sad to see old valors fade away in favor of bigger bills.
I really wish that America would do away with the penny.
