Lip Sync Software 2013-02-04 17:11:44 Reply

Hello everyone. i have been looking for forever for some kind of automated lip sync program that is FREE.
i know such software exists. My future project will be a long animation with lots of dialogue. Manually syncing the mouths to the sounds would take me longer than making the actual animation.

And yes, i've even gone as far as looking for pirated versions, but with no succes.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Keyframe Caddy.

This is seriously the best tool for the job and there are plenty of tutorials out there on how to use it.

Keyframe Caddy does sound like what you want, though it isn't automated. You'll need to go through frame-by-frame and select which mouth from however many you have drawn.

Another good method, if you simply can't stand the idea of going through and doing it yourself, is to hire another animator to help. I don't know how many people would want to go through an animation doing lip-sync, but, if the price is right, I'm sure you can find someone. Even simply offering 'x' percent on ad revenue, along with credit, might be enough to persuade an animator that isn't too busy to help.

Now, if you feel you just can't live without free automation software, SmartMouth might be worth a look. I've never tried it myself, but, judging by a quick video I only just saw moments ago, it seems fast and easy. It's not going to be all that accurate, but no free voice recognition software will be (at least not for a good while). Even Apple's Siri can't get everything right, and that'll run you 300 bucks. Depending on how you work, it could be good to use this software and go through to manually make corrections after it does its thing.

I'd personally stick with the first two options, but maybe someone with more experience can shed some light on SmartMouth.

i've looked at Smartmouth, it's not free. it's a trial. you get to use it 4 times, 100 frames each time.

thank you for the reply.
