4.02 / 5.00 44,049 ViewsHello all,
For those who don't know, I've spent a lot of time over the past months working on a project dubbed "Newgrounds+". It's progression was documented by myself through the Greasemonkey Scripts for NG V2 thread, started by @knugen.
Newgrounds+ is a massive userscript meant to customize and embellish the Newgrounds experience with a plethora of options. The project is still very much so in beta, however, after user feedback, I have decided to offer it to the general public to gather more useful feedback and suggestions on the project.
The only requirements are to be running Google Chrome or Firefox (12.0+) with Greasemonkey installed. Also, to participate in the beta, you must be a registered NG user.
If you would like more information about the project, here is where talk of NG+ begins, you can follow my development from that post onward.
And finally, the download and installation instructions are here:
Newgrounds Plus Public Beta
I look forward to feedback and suggestions!
Is there a list of all the functionality this adds?
I had a quick look through the thread you mentioned but I didn't see a list of everything it does.

I second this.
I can give a quick rundown of some features, others are dependent on other features, so it really takes a bit of exploration on the settings screen to customize NG to your liking, but some of the more major ones are:
Collapsing the Quick Links at the top of the page to only the "Social" elements, such as Friends, Messages, and Events. The other quicklinks become a dropdown menu under your username.
Suggesting your friends' names when you begin typing in a PM. Newgrounds has since implemented their own version of this feature, however, NG+'s includes profile pictures of the users.
Adding the "Respond" button back to the forums.
Adding an inline poster, so you never have to leave the thread to post.
Showing what percentage of your post is quoted.
Hotkeys for New Thread, Quote, and Respond.
Automatically collapsing BBS images.
Adding an ignore list to hide posts from certain users.
Autoexpanding the review box for movies and games.
Auto turn off the lights and widescreen movies/games.
There are a bunch more features, but like I said, without the settings page in front of you, it gets kind of difficult to explain what everything does.

It's written in JavaScript using jQuery as a substrate for DOM modification. It also injects CSS and bits and pieces of Javascript at runtime as needed.
I am considering eventually porting this as a native browser extension to bypass som restrictions of regular userscripts and improve loading speeds.
Can't wait to get home to try this. It's great to finally see a public release/beta

It seems to have a problem with posting pictures while using shift + enter to post. When ever I upload a picture and then use shift + enter, it will delete the picture and post my message.

This is amazing, thank you.
There also seems to be a problem with "My Bbs Posts Quicklink"
The option that adds a link to your bbs posts under the community menu. It won't work on user profiles. It works on all other pages I've tested.

This is the same issue all userscripts face across NG. Userpages are "username".newgrounds.com instead of www.newgrounds.com, so they're considered not part of the same domain and are unable to share data with www.newgrounds.com pages. So none of NG+'s features will work on a userpage, or chat.newgrounds.com. This is just one of the issues me switching to a native extension would fix.
Seems that Newgrounds snuck a "reader"/"writer" aura into the options now. I've updated the image source so it should begin showing up for those who have old level icons activated. You don't need to redownload in order to see this change.
Newgrounds whould have a feature that detects when people type ni
Because that's too close to an offensive word and I would bevery offended if even another letter would be added on to that
Since the mods are all high ranking members of the NAACP, I'm sure they'd agree with me on this

Lots of small tweaks needed here and there but I love it. Thanks Xaotik, you're beast. Doing all this for free to help the average user is something you gotta respect, and you got it.

Anyone try this in Opera yet?

Can I get a screen shot so I know what I'm downloading?
Never mind I got it! This is pretty impressive! I can't wait to start ignoring trolls!
Awesome job man is there any place I can donate?
User script must be UTF8 encoded.
@UVSoaked
Nothing for Opera (yet). I made sure that everything works in Firefox and Chrome, but I do have plans to port to Opera when I make an actual browser extension.
@372
Thanks! I don't have any place established to accept donations at present, however, when I port the script to a full-fledged extension, I'll probably accept donations via PayPal, mostly because I'm planning on setting up a website to host the extension.
@TheColourAwesome
I'm not precisely sure what that means... Is that an error you're getting? As far as I know, NG+ is UTF-8 encoded...

I drag it in the extensions area and it gives me that error.

I believe most (if not all?) Greasemonkey scripts work with Opera. I wanted to try it but it wouldn't even let me. :(
