Deleting my Facebook is dramatic?

I deleted my social networking accounts (Facebook.Instagram) about a month ago. Then apparently, one of my friends took notice and asked me why I deleted them. I told him I had no use for them any longer, and he replied with "Isn't that a little dramatic"? So.. Now it's dramatic to not have a Facebook?

Basically this. Social networking is just awfully time-consuming. I don't really talk to anybody on Facebook, and Instagram is just damn embarrassing. The same chicks posting the same pictures of themselves over and over using slightly different filters, and getting a shit ton of likes. I can't fathom why females need so much bloody attention in the first place. I just don't need that superficial crap around me so yeah. Good riddance to social networks. Feels liberating..

Most people are connected online these days including myself, dare you disconnect from that loop, you could suffer serious consequences in the real world, including to even being possibly socially rejected to a certain degree.

I would love to start a research on this someday, and care a study in regards to being connected/disconnected from social networking.

This reminds me of some news paper article I read a while ago in which someone also claimed that people without social networking accounts were suspicious. They drew that conclusion from the fact that criminals often don't have Facebook profiles (Breivik, Holmes, guys like that). Thus, if you don't have a Facebook profile, you may have something to hide. They also made a claim that having a Facebook account is "part of a healthy and normal lifestyle nowadays".

Makes me wonder if Facebook paid them to publish this.

To put it simply, yes. From what I know, the people who do not have FB have a considerably enclosed social life, do not interact much and keep shadowed away to themselves. This specifically is what everyone assumes of that person who does not have FB or deletes their FB. It shows that they do not want to communicate that much socially.

Attack me all you want, but I agree with your friend. It's just one of those everyday things now, like having an email. Deleting it tends to be an attention thing (until you go back a month or two later and make it again :3 ).
