Wait you actually are trying to sell a pencil anime drawing for 2,000 dollars?
Not to be a dick man but, uh...I don't think anyone's gonna go for it

haha oh wow five thousand for that thing
I really think you should stick to music, or get some art fundamentals like color composition and clarity

actually I've already sold some pieces.. and my art is fine thank you.. these are specifically styled art pieces..
people will pay the price.. and I am selling the prints for much much less.. I am not eager to part with my originals so if people want them they gotta pay for them.
As much as your advice is appreciated I am doing quite well thanks so I will stick to the advice of those actually in the art field..

and that is where you are wrong. In fact the art world is a funny place.. the higher the price.. the more valued the artist is perceived to be.
There was a sculpture of an anime kid wanking off with jizz floating about him that sold for like 30 million dollars. The truth is you don't know how the art world works. People who buy art are people who have money and want to spend lots of it on things they PERCEIVE as valuable.

That makes you a scumbag who prey's on others' ignorance.

If people want to pay/charge one dollar or one million dollars for something, that's their prerogative. Let's keep the focus of this thread on track. If you want to discuss value/worth/pricing of stuff, make a new thread... and no more personal attacks or insults, mmkay!

It was 15 mil, but it's true. Fun sculpture, too.

I totally agree.. if people wish to spend that amt of money on what they perceive is valuable then that is their business, as everything is worth something different to someone else.
For me I intentionally overprice my originals as I am not interested in selling them, only the prints, so if they REALLY want them that badly then they can pay big prices for it.. this sort of assures my originals don't sell.

Its value isn't a product of its price, though. Takashi Murakami is a famous, important, and influential artist in Japan, which is what creates the value of his work in the art world, which in turn creates the price.

yeah still not that convincing
You're missing the point, he's not pricing his original drawings according to what he actually thinks they are worth, he's charging them at ridiculous prices so no one will buy them, but if they do it's enough money to make him okay with parting with the original.
There's nothing wrong with this, I've done the same thing before.
Move on.

Let me get this straight, it's not some kind of modern art myth. It's a fact that you could easily verify via the internet. I guess the catalogue entry at sothebys.com is still not enough to convince you?
@Chronamut: I hope you don't get mad at me, but I wasn't a huge fan of the fractals you posted in this thread earlier. These last two submissions done with inks however are pretty awesome. I wish you good luck selling more and more of those.

funnily enough the fractals are what is selling the most atm.. so it seems people out there think otherwise.
Thus regardless of your tastes one should wish success in selling what ultimately sells best.. I am glad you like some of my work, but there is a reason I do several mediums, so that many different kinds of people can be satisfied :)
here is my most recent fractal.. I did it before my last piece but for some reason newgrounds wouldn't let me upload it..

funny thing - I used to have a lot of people ask me "what is that thing on his back?" - it's his wing but you're seeing it coming edge-on towards you. Now that I improved the shading and all I think this is a bit more apparent.. I did a quick sketch of the whole wing though so people could get a feel for what it'd look like spread out:

He didn't say anything about their profitability, he stated that he didn't like your fractal art, that's it.
Personally I find them neat because they looks like some legitimate effort was put into them, albeit a little too photoshop heavy. Have you ever considered doing people to test your skills as an artist? I know this thread is exclusively for the art you're selling, but perhaps you could show people your skills in drawing portraits or gestures?
