I might say something stupid, but I dont get it. these are digital art pieces right? what does you and ur partner moving in together has anything to do with you selling digital art? its not like you lack space to store them. Or are you soley in need of money? (for me thats a bit of a non reason since im always in need of money.. and power, unlimited power)
Also are these really difficult to make? I mean I think I can reproduce the one you added here pretty quickly, yet you ask a pretty hefty amount.
Where I live I'm flooded by this stuff, except it's actually hand painted by all the hippie folk. The space station one is my favorite. Good luck selling some I guess!
Was 'Fine Artist' the only setting?

I lowered my prices..
and the fractals take about a day.. in the end it's more about how the end result looks - the same argument is brought up with photographers.. it's not so much about how much "effort" went into it - it's more about the end result you get and the fact they attempted it at all.
And yes I need to earn some extra money to supplement his income atm as he has strep and bronchitis and has been trying to save up for a car.. so I am trying to help him out.
also sold my first piece a couple days ago.. made 30 bucks profit off it.. so not so bad eh ;)

Congrats. I'm sure your grandma will derive endless hours of pleasure from the random swirls and colors.
p.s. that $30 also covers this years birthday and Christmas gifts. Buy yourself some socks.

Don't you just type in some random numbers into a program and set some colour values to make stuff like this?

Catnip again? Bad kitties... someone's gotta get the water gun.
To OP: Good that the sales went well for you. Asking for fractal ideas sounds pretty fishy though (and thus attracted the forum cats) ALMOST as if you wanted to bump your sale promotion thread. :(
Good luck with it nevertheless.
decent sales for such stuff. I might look into it myself
that Shawn dall dude hunts my dreams btw, he's scary as shit.

nope you very much have to control what you are doing.. that's like saying to a painter don't you just slap some random paint onto a canvas and call it art.. or take some random photo and call yourself a photographer.
Go make this and get back to me.

Holy shit the first one's rated over 4.9.. that's crazy!
I've had much success with my fractals over time.. with 2 of them even making front page..

enjoy! Be sure to click the links in the desc for full size as well as for the other 2 variations! :) (shrinking it down DOES cause it to lose some quality sadly.. but what can ya do..)
Finally some art. Its simple and basic, but not everyone can do it.
At 2/10/13 04:29 PM, Mohabot wrote: Finally some art. Its simple and basic, but not everyone can do it.
EXACTLY. And not everyone chooses to put their energy into doing it. For a lot of people buying this work they want to by it because they can't make it themselves.. art takes an eye for design regardless of how simple or hard it is. Sometimes it is a powerful message being conveyed, or sometimes it is highly interpretive.. art is art, plain and simple.
I think what most people have a problem with fractal art is that composition wise it is often very samey, and colour wise it often very garish and unsubtle. A few of these are nice - I still really like Space Station, but a lot of them just look like ugly blankets from Glastonbury Festival.
Your comparison to photography is almost fair enough, but photography often works with narrative and objects familiar to the human mind to create different emotions and raise different questions.
It's good you sold some, though. It does look nice sometimes and I know some people really love it.
