Favourite EP's? Jan. 27th, 2013 @ 07:05 PM Reply

Personally I'd go with

R.E.M. - Chronic Town
Pixies - Come On Pilgrim
MBV - You Made Me Realize
NIN - Broken

I'm sure I love a lot more, but as far as I can remember right now, these are my favourites.

I don't really bother with EPs. Most of the time they have the same songs as the albums anyway.

Tru dat, even though I wouldn't say most of the time. But still there's those times where there's a brilliant 100% original content EP put out.

Some of my favorites include....

Electric Wizard - Supercoven
Pixies - Come On Pilgrim
Nirvana - Hormoaning
1000mods - Valley Of Sand
Pelican - March Into The Sea

I know for a fact there are more. But I can't think of them at the moment for some reason......

Emperor - Emperor (and generally, all Emperor EPs)
Mayhem - Deathcrush (actually, the only release by Mayhem I even like)

Two that I think of off the top of my head.

Kenose
Chaining the Katechon
Mass Grave Aesthetics
Diabolus Absconditus
Drought

Deathspell Omega's EPs are much more enjoyable than their albums, imo, though I do still like their albums.

Ah, I thought of one. The first Arcade fire release, just called Arcade Fire EP. It has a lot of great songs that were never re-released, and also an earlier version of No Cars Go.

Needs more love for Dream Theater's A Change of Seasons. They didn't even need to add the live tracks to justify the release so they're purely gravy. Still, the covers they do for those live tracks are nice.

While we're at it, I do like Moonsorrow's Tulimyrsky. One song that lasts half an hour while the rest are just bonuses which makes the whole EP 68 minutes long.

There are a lot of EPs that have songs that the artist never put on a full length studio album, though.

I'm a big fan of EPs, they're like short bites of music I can enjoy, and not have to commit to listening to an entire album. They're also great for checking out new artists and seeing if I like them.

Modest Mouse - Everywhere And His Nasty Parlour Tricks
American Football - Self-titled EP
The Brave Little Abacus - Okumay
Boards of Canada - In a Beautiful Place Out In the Country
Jesu - Lifeline
Owen - Seaside

Those are a few off the top of my head

But then I'd praise a turd if it had a TVotR stamp on it.

Blind is the best song there though
