I personally really enjoy dubstep, all sorts of it. Even Skrillex. If someone said heavy metal is slowing down rock because its shit, it would just sound stupid. I personally don't like heavy metal, but a lot of others do, it's in a category of its own much like dubstep and "I can totally see a massive pattern because you and your silly friend decided you don't like dubstep " . Oh dear.

Taylor Swift's done such a song.

What are you talking about? 2012 has spawned a couple of completely new genres (moombahton, trap) and the whole ''EDM'' fad (which is bullcrap) is dominating the charts. You shouldn't be paying too much attention to the popular stuff and dig a bit deeper.
