Has there ever been a game you were too scared to finish?

Eh, Amnesia?
Trials Evolutions and the Extreme tracks towards the end.
Shit is intense, yo.

I was 10 when I first played Dead Space and I couldn't finish it. I went back and did it a year or two after, though.
Shit was skurry.
You look nice today.

Cereal is pretty cool. If you're cool you'll add me on Steam. Also, Letterboxd.
As a kid i always got really scared when it got to the point in Resident Evil 2 when you first come across the licker. I'm completely fine now with it but I was hesitant with that for a good bit. Even still though, it's eyes creep me out.
I never finished the first FEAR game whenever it first came out. I was much younger back then though and it probably wouldn't scare me today.

Half-Life 2. Aliens up-close like that scared the crap out of me.
When I was younger I thought that bird portal thing in smb2 flying around was scary.

When I was a kid, Aladdin Nasira's Revenge had these levels where enemies had blue skin, you were all by yourself, and you fought in these dark, decrepit ruins/dungeons. No way in hell was I going through that.
Also, Duke Nukem and Resident Evils 2 and 3 had the "monster-infested" city setting that creeped me the hell out.
...
Well it is not a horror game, but I would not have been able to complete Super Mario 64 if someone wouldn't have helped me play through those water levels. That fucking eel man!

I'll be up front, I suck when it comes to horror games, they scare me to the point where I can barely play them at all, I barely played RE4 for half an hour.
Seriously, who even reads these things anymore?

What scared you? RE4 is literally just a third person shooter. If you mentioned the regenerators then maybe, but I don't see how anything in the first half hour could scare anyone that much.

I'm not too sure about that bro, lickers never had eyes apart from that one shitty attempt in RE Outbreak.

Half-Life 2, while not a horror game per se, I quit playing completely at Ravenholm.
Hello.

Amnesia scared me real good, I stopped playing that game after I got to the sewer/water area, Penumbra had it's scary points as well but I managed to finish it, same with F.E.A.R. which I also finished it.

What about the haunted house world on Super Mario 64?

I'm a total wuss when it comes to horror games (and movies, for that matter), so I barely ever play them in the first place. But I did get Penumbra Overture in one of the Humble Indie Bundles and decided to give it a shot. Maybe twenty minutes later I was slamming my laptop shut and vowing never to play it again.

I don't think there's a more emotionally exhausting level in video games.

When I was younger, I honestly pissed myself whenever that fucking piano came to life and tried to bite Mario.
Dead Space 1, but I'm re-playing it now to finally finish it.
I rented Eternal Darkness years ago when I was little (11, maybe.) and the bathroom scene made me turn the game off and not play it anymore during the few days we had it.
You should totally add me on one of my various game accounts:
360 - Malachi117. Steam - Malachi117. PS3/PS4 - NarcolepticCat.

That scene still scares me today.
I still play it, though. It's a scary-good game.
Update: I finally got the balls to beat Deep Sleep, the link I posted in the OP. Scary but awesome.
Feel My Hate
LSD for the Playstation.
Due to the fact the game was pretty much an entire phobia I have on one disc.
That shit was intense towards the end, couldn't finish it.

Serious question, what's so great about ravenholm? It's always brought up but I thought it was one of the least memorable levels in Half Life 2.
It's not even tense or anything, when it comes to horror in Half Life that one part in episode 1 (or maybe episode 2, they're hard to distinguish) where you fight a shitload of zombies in the dark is far superior, as well as about a dozen moments in the HL1 trilogy (the sewers in Opposing Force particularly.. or maybe that was in Blue shift? I played through the whole series one after the other so they just blend together for me).

My latest playthrough of Silent Hill 3. Only just got past the shopping mall and already that game scared me too much and yet I've played this game many times in the past.
Doom. I still can't go far without quitting because I'm too scared of turning round and a monster killing me.
