What are the possible and practical uses of phasers and flangers in electronic music?

flangers with a manual LFO are fucking awesome, get some really sick screechy sounds with that given the right post-processig
also can be used as a dodgy comb filter/chorus effect with certain settings.

phasers are fun, kinda have an underwater/dreamy feeling about 'em
good for the old french house sound or for #seapunk

my 2c

p.s. i am gay

I pretty much agree with this post here. Put a phaser on some pads and you got yourself a breakdown, or a really nice buildup.

They add flavor to your sounds. Usually works better if you use them subtly, not like guitarists with phasdr/flanger guitar pedals who make the erfect dominate.

Flangers are great for getting nice texture in powerful string leads, sometimes vowly

think deadmau5 & wolfgang's animal rights.

They can also add a flair for quick transitions to help the song flow.

Don't ever use them EVER. I used a phaser once. Everyone laughed at me and called me names. I actually got hate mail from this one kid. He said bluntly "don't you ever touch a phaser again or I'll kill you >:C"

just kidding. Put effects on everything and see what happens!

daft punk use phasers on their samples pretty often
Also, i tend to use distortion right after a phaser. Play around with those and you can get a cool effect. Especially on voice samples, which i use a lot

I just discovered that the flanger negative in Massive can be really awesome for dubstep neuro-funk style basses.
