I think it all makes sense now:

He's been doing a lot of traveling lately: More so these past few years. He also says that this past London meet will be his last one for a while, because he has "a bunch of projects to finish." Now add all the heavy drinking and smoking and you have what appears to bucket list.

I think Luis is dying, and he doesn't have very long left to live.

Well Lou, I wish you the best in finishing all your projects before you're time is up.

it would make sense but unfortunately he's not. well not until his liver goes first anyways but they will probably carve Stampers out and give it to Luis.
