Yea, that's what I do, but it wouldn't sound accurate or often times good.
Also I'm so sorry for not mentioning Tom Waits before. I know it's really raw but that's from smoking and raw emotion, and not from being in a metal outfit.
Eeeehhhhh that's not exactly deep. No way I could replicate it, either. It would seem like fun to sing, though.

You can hear my awful rendition of a great song here in almost an octave lower: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/514813

It sounds like your singing with your throat to hit the notes, which is probably the way you talk and happens easily. Try singing with your diaphram if you're not already, then you'll find that actually your singing voice is actually slightly higher than that. You can google this easy.

But, yea, it'd be better if I learned how to sing first. Then belt and shout.

Indeed. What I do is plan it all out, then when it's show-time, my brain stops working and I wing it. I'll try experimenting with that.

Though I find that Acid Bath song REALLY easy for me to sing :3

Yeah I tried learning to sing a few years ago, it's actually just a matter of practise once you get to grips with the mechanics of it in your body. Saying that, I only dare do piss-takes like this which is obviously a shitty impression of David Attenborough. And it's mostly out the throat to try and get to rasp, which is why it sounds so uncontrollable. Basically, you'll find you get better, quicker, if you know how your body works, rather than finding songs to suit your voice.

Fucking yes! This^
Or you could try some stuff by Josh Homme. Queens Of The Stone Age have had some mid-vocal songs.

That's all it is. I'm having an especially difficult time cos I don't talk much, so I'm not entirely familiar with my voice and and what happens if I apply pressure here or there. Need to spend more time in the car, knowwutimsayin

I meant to link these in the last thing I said...

I need some stuff to practice on my own register for now, so I'm asking if any of you could provide some examples of singers with deep voices. Not like Michael Clarke Duncan, but more tenor. And no death metal or Rammstein. I know you fuckers.
Curious if ya tried some the old, slow bluesy tracks. They could give ya time to breath and relax and improv.
What? No mention of this guy?

My initial impression of them I did not like. I'll do a thorough search.
